Free GameCube preview DVD

At Gamestop last night, they were giving away a free DVD with Gamecube previews on it. Basically some promotional clips for a bunch of games...some old and some new. 5 Nintendo releases (SFA, Metroid Prime, Mario Sunshine, MP4, and AC) and a bunch of others (lots of soprts titles, SW: Clone Wars, Vexx, 007, THPS4, etc.) The best part I thought was the Animal Crossing MTV-Real World style clips were all on there. These were right up by the register.

The gamestop here had them as well, but I forgot to pick one up. I got distracted playing the Metroid demo and left without grabbing one.

I'll grab one on my lunch break tomorrow.

I picked this up today. I'm really impressed that it will play in normal DVD players rather than just DVD Rom. The videos are very high quality, just like you were playing the game.

I was expecing a dvd with crappy quicktime videos like the mini-cd they put out before the GC's launch last fall.

I'd prefer a disk with playable demos myself. There was a HUGE difference between watching movies of Metroid Prime and when I finally got to play it last week.

Even if its just movies i must have it! Especially if it is free! Is gamestop the only store that has these? the only all video game store near me is one called Babbage's...which is fairly similar to EB.

The disc is also free with a little mini-dvd carrying case at Best Buy for preordering Metroid Prime.

Babbages and Gamestop are the same thing (same company anyway). Actually the one I picked the disc up from was a Babbages, I had it mixed up with another mall.

BTW, I loved this DVD. The Metroid Prime stuff was great especially the History of Metroid.

Now if Nintendo would start doing demo discs we will be all set.

FYI - There's an easter egg on the disc

Spoiler:
On the main page, select the big circle on the left with the GC logo. You'll be taken to footage of Zelda, F-Zero, 1080, and FF:CC

Thanks for the info, i actually found out there is a Gamestop here I forgot about. When I got there they box with the dvd's was all out, but i asked the clerk if they had any extra's and he found some in the back. This DVD rocks! The Metroid Legacy part was definitley one of the coolest parts, especially with the old school footage mixed in. One thing the dvd did accomplish was overwhelm me that there are too many games that look good which i won't have time to play.

Spoiler:
F-Zero ruled! I had no idea it was so far along in development, as was the Zelda preview. Personally I think the best video of zelda (where you can get a real sense of what the game will be like when someone is actually playing it) is the one at IGN cube called "tour of the village" or "tour of the island", something like that.

They should still have tons of them

I wish it was a gamecube disk with playable demos and not just a DVD, it is actually kind of funny that you can't play it on your gamecube but could on your x-box or PS2.

Can't wait for Zelda and F-Zero

The whole point of this DVD is to advertise to people who don't own a Gamecube. I think Nintendo wants Xbox and PS2 gamers to watch this disk so they can see some of the great games that are exclusive to Gamecube, then hopefully some of them will want to buy a Gamecube.

It's supposed to be an action rpg. Probably something akin to Secret of Mana on the SNES.

I actually got that when I asked my bud about the Jet X20 demos Sony was supposed to send EB. he said he didn't have that, but then he proceeded to give me the Nintendo preview DVD, Tony Hawk's Huck Yuck Shuck Jam, and a PS2 demo of Haven: Call to the King.

I'm glad I asked. And I'm gonna have to remember to ask about "demos" when I'm in the store, in the future.

Just in case you are like me and are too lazy to get to a store to pick up the DVD, I just got a e-mail from Nintendo and they said the DVD will be in the December issue of Nintendo Power magazine.
