If that's the case then I appologize to you Aghama.

Well at least his friend is gonna get some cash back on his investment.
A little bit ago his friend called and has agreed to sell the rest of his games for fifteen dollars apiece if my son agrees to buy all of them, whether great games or not. Then he said he's gonna take the cash and buy more Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

I tell you it must be some kinda fad or something. Don't blame me if you guys with kids come home from work, your game system is missing and there's a bunch of Yu-Gi-Oh cards all over the living room, cause I had nothing to do with it.

I thought the kids were like 10 or so, since they are collecting and trading Yu-Gi-Oh cards.

Sorry, maybe I should have mentioned their age and yes they're Juniors in High School. I've seen the High School kids playing this game with the cards when I would pick him up from school, but I didn't know it was Yu-Gi-Oh till my son told me.

Yeah me too, aren't those like Pokemon cards?

No harm done.

Yes I think they're like the Pokemon cards. I just don't understand why teenagers would get so hyped up about it?

I'm just glad to be a multi system person again, if my son will ever get off of it.

I'm calling Time Warner Cable tomorrow and see about getting another cable modem for my son's room so he can go online with SOCOM

My 5 yr old Daughter wants to play Mario Sunshine and MonkeyBall. Looks like it'll be a GC next (Paid for by me! No Yu-Gi-Oh cards involved

Heh, if your son get SOCOM in his room, he may never leave his room again. Oh yeah, you don't really need another cable modem for that, just get a router and some long RJ45 cable.

Man, I hope everyone that pounced on WOWZY learned their lesson and won't jump to conclusions and attack someone next time with out knowing the facts.

You guys should have just posted and asked how old the kids were and if the other parent knew about the deal, rather than just assuming that it was a little kid and the parents knew nothing about it (both of which turned out to be false).

I just get tired of seeing people on these forums attacking people for little or no reason.

DVD Talk used to be a nice friendly place to post. Now it's more or less just the typical internet forum with a bunch of jerks flaming everyone.

Plus people jumping to conclusions is a pet peeve of mine, especially over the internet where no one knows anything about anyone, but still makes assumptions and attack people without out knowing any specifics.

It's pathetic.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You're a good poster.

Note:
Spoiler:
I'm just kidding. Please don't report this to a mod.

The original post was very ambiguous and the benefit of the doubt isn't always given on the Internet. If you refer to my first post, I clearly ask what's going on. My second post makes assumptions but they could probably still be correct. Consider this: a 16 year old rich kid probably has social problems, he's probably geeky or dorky and doesn't have many friends but does have a lot of money. He practically gives away his PS2 to another kid cooler than him. He knows he got screwed in the deal, but is trying to buy his friends. He hopes that the other kid will be nice/friends with him. Let's face it, he could have sold that PS2 at EB and boughten those Qui-Gon-Jim cards with the money he made and had money left over to buy a game or two.

Either that or he's just extremely generous. Most teenagers I knew were never generous (even the rich ones who were "cool", the rich unsocially cool kids always gave stuff away trying to make friends), but I guess there are always exceptions. **Disclaimer: WOWZY did nothing wrong nor did his son. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth as the saying goes**

Bottom line: this thread was back to normal and nobody needed a lecture about what happened. You aren't a moderator, if you have a problem with how people are acting in a thread, simply click on Report to Moderator and let them take care of it.

Fair enough, I was just venting on a pet peeve.

I don't bother using the report feature unless it's a personal attack because the mods tend to ignore most things like this so it's just a waste of time.

I was hoping I might convince a couple of people to be more thougthful and respectful in their posting, but I'm beginning to think these forums are a lost cause.

Yup, this forum is a lost cause. We're actually the asses of DVDTalk. I don't care though, I love playing games and am dorky. Hey can I trade you a PS2 plus 10 games for a deck of Qui Gon Jim cards???

Yes, the "banned" comment was a joke referencing one of our esteemed members being suspended for a "tight panties" comment.

Hey Wowzy,

Thanks for letting us know how the deal went down. I'm glad everything worked out for your son and the other kid. Let me be the first to say that I kinda wish I had a kid who had such friends because I can always dig up some old magic or star trek cards

And watch out for that Socom game. I went over to my friend's place just to see the game in action and before I knew it, it was like 2 hours later

Cheers!

Hey what happend, if let's assume if the kid who wanted Yu-Gi-Oh cards actually know that the Yu-Gi-Oh card will worth 5 times as much as the ps2 and the game worth today in just 5 years. Wouldn't WOWZY be the one got rid off?? And that would explain perfectly why the father of the kid is okay with the trade.

Just something to think about. and something for WOWZY to see in 5 years whether or not my theory is true.

Except the son made sure he didn't give the kid any good Yi Gi Oh cards. Now I don't follow Yi Gi Oh, but it doesn't sound like baseball cards, where a no-name rookie could be one of the best players in the league in 5 years.

Spud.. err.. WOWZY'S son swindled this kid good methinks.

Been gone for a few days, I forgot to pay my cable bill and they shut me down till I got payed today. I got picked to be an XBOX Live Beta tester on Monday or Tuesday and wasn't gonna use it because I was thinkin' "It's too friggin' late now!" with Live just a few weeks away. But I decided to order it anyway and spent my last $50 bucks on it. Then TimeWarner cut off my RoadRunner and I didn't have the money to get it turned back on till today.

Thanks for the router tip, I had completely forgot about that! Now that I'm a Live Beta tester, are me and my son gonna have to worry about bandwidth issues if were playing both the Xbox and the PS2 at the same time?

You're absolutely right about the cards could be worth more money later on but it seems as though they print so many copies of those kind of cards that they may never be worth anything. But if they are that's the other guys good fortune.
