A long shot.. but with the announcement that Nintendo and Square are working again, could we dream it be Final Fantasy exclusive to Nintendo in the years to come?

I hope not. A series moving from one system to another doesn't exactly get me pissing my pants with excitement. I seriously doubt that, though.

I think the fact that Sony owns a nice chunk of Square should squash any thought of that.

It's probably just their online plans or some game that we already know is coming. I'm going to bet that this news turns out to be pretty underwhelming compared to all the hype.

This rumor isn't coming straight from Nintendo so it probably will turn out to be nothing big.

Is that certain, like, it will be out next month?

Or certain like Lucas will eventually release the original trilogy on DVD?

Just wondering if you have a scoop or something.

Don't wait around for Nintendo to light up the GBA... I finally just did it myself with the Triton Labs Afterburner, and it looks even better than the pics on their site:

It's comparable to the lighting of the old Sega Game Gear... very nice and I play my GBA 1000% more now. If I had the time I'd mod a few GBA's and make some decent $ ebaying 'em.

Certain, like next year. They haven't made the official announcement yet and of course Japan will get it much sooner than the US.

Hot dog.

Now, if they just release Zelda 1 and 3 on GBA carts, plus the three GBC Zelda games already out, and I'll be ready for my desert island

Didn't Nintendo own a nice chunk of Rare?

Anyway, my hope(million to one), they will simultaneously release the Zeldo of E3 & Celda, letting consumers decide which is better.

I hope it's GBA online. Hook my GBA into my cell phone and play my friend from across the country.

GBA Online......and backlit!

I don't see how previous owners of a GBA would be "dicked" if a backlit version is released. Old GBAs wouldn't suddenly stop working. It would be just an updated model. Happens in the electronics world all the time.

A Link to the Past comes out sometime soon for the GBA.

Considering that Dragon Quest 5 and Dragon Quest 6 were basically the stepping stones for Pokemon.. it wouldn't surprise me. Since this IS my favorite game series of all time, would I buy a Game Donkey to play it? Not unless they put it back in 2D where it belongs..

Ooops.. back to your back-lit GBA discussion..

Which is nice.. Link to the Past is THE best Zelda game ever.

1) Link to the Past
2) Oracle of Ages/Seasons (Underrated masterpieces)
3) Adventure of Link (I'll be flamed for this)
4) The Legend of Zelda
5) Link's Awakening

Realize that the list is skewered, cause even tho Link's Awakening is #5 it's easily better than any PS2 game out right now.

OH! Almost forgot..

tied for 99) Orcarina of Crap and Mask of Crap.

Wow, except for that sidescrolling crap on the NES, you and I are almost twins.

Thanks Josh, I had heard about Link to the Past Advanced, but I'm not buying a unit until it's backlit.

Time do debate, and what a debate this could be. A new thread?

Let me say first that I haven't played any of the GB games.
I have to STRONGLY disagree with #1 A Link to the Past. It was the easiest game of the series, I was pissed when I beat it, because it only took a week. Here is how I would rate them.

1. Legend of Zelda - took months to complete
2. Ocarina of Time - Not quite as long as #1 but long. Graphics were killer.
3. Link's Awakening - The side scrolling was interesting. Took a couple of weeks to conquer.
4. A Link to the past - Like I said, too easy. Beat it in a week. And that is holding me back from buying it on GBA.
5. Majora's Mask - Never got into it, it was too similar to Ocarina.

Anyone heard more about this? It was reported that the GBA player for the GC is NOT this announcement, so I'm still wondering what this will be.

Speculated, not reported. I have also seen it speculated that the Enix-Square merge + resulting games is the big news

True. Thanks for the clarification. I hope neither of these are the big announcement, because I don't believe either will cause an increase in GC sales, or whatever that quote was.

Maybe it was those 5 exclusive Capcom games... hasn't there been a handfull of big announcements over at Nintendo since this thread started? Someone could start a new thread saying "Nintendo has a big announcement coming" and then in a week or so it would probably happen. That would be cool cuz we'd be predicting the future.

I guess I'm just expecting someone from Nintendo to announce something and then say, Yep, that was the big announcement. The Capcom games also look promising, but they're still not enough to be major console sellers in my opinion.

I think the big console rush is over... most people who wanted one or two or three already got them... I think the rest of the console sales for the lives of these systems will be trickle except for small surges during the holidays. System sellers aren't really going to make much difference.
