I really hope that's not true, as I don't want either game and would sell them if I bought the bundle and use the money to buy a couple games that I want. I could probably get around $30-40 a piece for them, there's no way I'd get that much for one DVD with both games on it.
I doubt they would be exactly the same as the regular retail games anyway. Usually the pack-in games have "not for resale" or something like that in big letters across the top of the case (or the cartridge).

I doubt that. If this bundle is legit I predict that the market will be glutted with these games.
Well, I could get around that buy getting the bundle as soon as it's available and putting them up on EBAY ASAP, I'm sure they're are X-box owners out there that don't have these 2 yet.

But that could be a problem if it sells well, I'll likely just wait for a price drop on the normal package, or a bundle with games that I want.

That would cause problems if I wanted to trade them in at EB or something, but wouldn't be an issue selling them on EBAY.

Dammit. Yet another reason to buy an Xbox. My days as a one system owner are limited. I can see this xbox making it's way into my entertainment center right now....

That is pretty funny but don't forget that you have until November 1st to get the DVD playback kit for free with your Xbox purchase. That makes this an even better deal! :)

Lastblade 10-02-02 10:30 AM

awesome.... I was planning to get an xbox anyway so this is a great deal! I really was hoping MS would do some kind of a package deal to entice more Xmas shoppers to pick it up and it looks like my hope came true lol.

I guess that is the way it goes. At least others that may not normally pick up an Xbox will get one & enjoy it.

I hear that one! :grunt:

Every new price drop or package announcement makes me just kick myself.....way to reward the early adopters.

Next time....I'm waiting awhile before I jump in,

I totally agree with y'all. I had been an early adopter forever but I decided to wait on the latest gen of systems.... Good call hehe. :) I am gonna get an xbox now, then when GC/PS2 is less than 100 bux, I will get those 2 hahahaha :D

it sort of depends on when you got it in my opinion. if you get i a month before this deal, well, that sucks... but if you've had it for a year, than, i think it's well worth it.

el_jer 10-02-02 11:49 AM

Yes the price drops do hurt us who picked up the unit a year ago but I wouldn't trade that for the many hours of enjoyment HALO has provided in the last year.

Whoever implied that a move like this signals the end is mistaken. MS has commited millions to this product in the form of advertising. This is just one of the methods it will use this holiday season to advertise their product.

HALO would have been a better choice but I think the M rating might have been an issue. However, Project Gotham racing and HALO would have made a good combo since they are coming out with new versions next year.

I agree. There is no way I could have waited a whole extra year before playing Halo. I've had too much fun with it and I'm not that patient. That's just the price you pay to play the games earlier than other folks. I did manage to wait on a PS2 until six months ago but that was easier because there were no must have games at launch for the PS2. If not for Rogue Leader, I could have held off on the Gamecube until Mario came out.

Trigger 10-02-02 12:13 PM

My girlfriend bought me one before Christmas last year - I wouldn't have bought one otherwise until now...

Liquid Death 10-02-02 02:13 PM

I was thinking about buying one last week when Target had JSRF for $25, but I passed for now coz of the extra cost of the controller. This seals it tho - 10/15 can't come quick enough :)

Heh, I got BOTH a Box and Cube at launch, but I dont regret either purchase in the slightest.

And who talked you into getting the Xbox

Breakfast with Girls 10-02-02 03:49 PM

They would need to be offering two free games of my choice for me to pick one up.

Tuan Jim 10-02-02 04:04 PM

Is this a general offer or limited to certain stores or what? Just wondering -- I have a few friends who'd buy this in a second they have them locally.

Tuan Jim

Trigger 10-02-02 04:08 PM

My guess is that everyone will have it - even Costco.

Lastblade 10-02-02 05:01 PM

Has this been confirmed anywhere else?? I don't want to get my hopes too high...

JSRF is going for lower $20s on Half.com, and Sega GT around $40. If you don't want either, I'm sure you could sell this disc for around $50 on Ebay. Maybe more.

It's PAL and requires 240V so not real useful for the rest of the world. The Halo pack also has a dvd remote included (to compete with the PS2 dvd pack)

They won't bundle Halo with it because Halo is rated M for Mature. I can never remember a Mature game being sold with any console ever, but it is a small samply survey to begin with. At least that is my take on it. However another reason is that Halo is the Microsoft money maker out of the entire XBOX line. They lose a lot on lots of stuff, but Halo is a cash cow, same as any hit game.

I thought this too when I bought my Dreamcast Sports bundle that came w/ NFL and NBA 2k but I could not trade them in at EB b/c they did not have a barcode. Might want to be careful about buying this and then trading the games in.

Gromit 10-03-02 05:26 PM

I wonder if the regular Xbox controller will even be available in a year or so. It sounds like MS is moving towards the S controller more and more (ads, this promo, etc).

I didn't vote in the polll in the other thread because there was no 'either one' option. I like 'em both about the same. It was a close call, but I returned an S controller for a regular one, mainly just to have two of the same controller. Of course, you could also say it would be nice to have one of each for the variety.

I wonder how much this costs MS? Not counting the packaging and promo costs, they just have to pay Sega for the price of GT and JSRF on one DVD. It's not cheap, but it's not like it adds $80 to MS's price for each box.

On the other hand, considering how much they're already losing, I think this shows that MS is in this for long haul.

I addressed this point earlier in the thread. I would sell the games on Ebay, not trade them in at EB.

And you would have no problem doing so, you may take a slight cut, but the price of JSRF is bottoming out fast with all the places having them on clearance.
