Electronics Boutique $100 trade-in deal

I tried a search and didn't see this posted before.

EB now has a trade-in deal going on. Bring in your old N64 or PS and 15 games (mix & match N64/PS ok) and get $100 store credit towards a PS2, XBOX or Gamecube. This can be combined with the GC $50 rebate discussed here for even bigger savings -

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=239473

GC ($150), game ($30) and 251 mem card ($22) = $202
$100 trade-in - $100
$50 rebate - $50
-----------------------------------
GC, game and 251 for $52
PS2 or XBOX for $100 (buy XBOX remote, get $30 rebate is also good)

Take in a few old DVDs or other games to trade and get more credit on a title-by-title basis

15 games and a system, I'm positive you can get way more then 100 bucks on ebay for that. those trade in sales never appeal to me simply because it feels like your getting raped for your stuff cash wise.

I don't have 15 N64 carts either, but then I don't need that many. You can trade in a N64 system with 15 PS games and still get the $100.

I picked up a 3DO (yes, a 3DO) for $50 and traded it in an even swap for a N64 years ago (trader wanted a cheap way to look at photo CDs on a TV). I only picked up 5 or 6 N64 carts over the years, so I will trade them in and fill the balance of the 15 game requirement with some cheap PS games I've beat to death and get a pretty good return of $$$ on the deal.

I also sold my 7 year old PS for $40 to a neighbor. I paid a mere $50 for it when it first came out in Sept. '95 with a similar Genesis/Super Nintendo swap ($100 for EACH system then ). I now have $140 (trade deal + cash) plus a few Dreamcast games to trade, all ready to put toward a PS2. No muss, no fuss, no need to go to ebay and sell stuff.

Come Saturday, a PS2 will be mine at last

The clerk at EB said "we don't expect it to end anytime soon".

I interpret that to mean it has no fixed expiration date. I'm only gonna wait 'til Saturday though

i tried their previous trade in 10 ps1 or n64 games for 50.00 coupon...
1. all games must have boxes and instructions
2. they only take the games they want. so basically no unloading old year sports games, or any other crap that no one would buy from them.

so basically, they want your valuable games for really cheap. even if you don't play them, you can probably ebay them for more than 5 bucks...

just my opinion...i think they should take everything or at least publish a list of what games they don't take, before i trek to the store.

I was just kidding. I have around 30 N64 games myself, and they are all good enough that I wouldn't ever trade them. I hoard games.

You are right, they should at least have a list of games they won't accept....

So $100 for an N64 / PSOne and 15 games?

Assuming that the system is worth twice the price of a game, that's somewhere around $12 for the system and $6 for each game.

By comparison, the system & controller is going for around $25 on that auction site... And game prices seem to have a minimum of $5 each (with some titles - Goldeneye, Zelda, Perfect Dark, etc) getting into the $10 - $20 range. Someone sold Mario 64, Mario Party 3, Mario Kart 64 & Mario Tennis for $63.02.

The EB Deal is a good one if you don't want to use an auction site. However, if you're willing to put in a little bit of work, you could do much better.

Having said that, I wouldn't recommend putting it all together in one package for bidding. They're not doing too well & you might get as much at EB for that one...
