NBA 2K3 vs. Live 2003....who's getting what?

Basketball fans have a lot to look forward to in early October. The two big titles, Live 2003 and NBA 2K3 are almost here and are starting to generate some buzz online. If anyone has been checking out IGN, OperationSports.com (especially) and the official NBA 2K3 and Live 2003 sites, they mave have some idea of which one they want.

I'm curious to what everyone is getting. While I LOVE the 2K series, Live finally looks to be improving....hell I used to base my days around the Live games back in the mid 90s.

A few months ago, I saw all the new features on NBA2k3. I don't even need to look at anything for NBA Live. 2003 There's no way I can go back to the Live series.

I've been strictly NBA2k since I had my DC. Live just seems so bland. Unless EA Sports totally redesigns Live from the ground up, I can't go back to it.

I'm really excited about the new passing system in NBA2k3. Also diving for loose balls. woohoo!

Oh, these are the two best basketball games for this year. So hey, I may not be grabbing lots of games this year, but I think I'm probably getting both this year. Live's new control features seems like a great feature. Plus the fact they're both online now gives me more reason to grab these. NBA Inside Drive looked good last year, but seems like its pretty much the same this year. NBA 2k3 will still probably be the better game, but I'm sure Live will pull out all stops to come close. Can't wait to get my hands on these. Oh, btw, I saw NBA Shootout for PS2 this morning. Don't think it cuts it though.

I don't like NBA live.

I like both Inside drive and NBA 2k series.

This time around NBA 2K3 is live so doing the math= 2K3

There really isn't any other option.

I'll probably just stick with NBA2k2 since I'm short on cash and there's a ton of great games coming out this fall.

However, there's no way I'd even consider Live. The series was never very good, and has just flat out sucked the past several years.

Since I did the EB trade 2 games in for NBA2K3 I'll be getting that one. I agree with you all about Live, that series has stunk for a long time. It'll probably sell more copies though!

NBA2k3, though I might give ID 2003 a look as well.

NBA 2K3 hands down. I got sick of Live after the horrible 2001 PS2 version.

Wow, looks like NBA2k3 killed that competition in this post. I'll probably give Live 2003 a rent. Franchise mode has always been super deep in that game, but gameplay never was any good.

I'll probably rent whichever one I don't get. Strictly because I'm that big of a basketball nut.

Hmmm... filet mignon or spam?

I think I'll go with the filet mignon of basketball games, 2k3.

Okay okay, so everyone here is pretty much set on 2K3. Hell I pretty much am. But has anyone taken the time to download the movies on "total player control" for Live 2003? The moves you can pull are amazing, especially the linked up ones. Download them here (especially the very bottom one): http://www.operationsports.com/Revie...balive2003xbox

Unless 2K3 has this sort of player control, I'll definitely be giving Live a shot....no pun intended.

EDIT: Link fixed.

Aren't the controlls on NBA Live supposed to be incredible this year? Something about controlling all movements with the left stick instead of canned button controls.........

That is correct. Which is probably the one reason to give Live a chance this year. Hell, I've been "researching" both games for weeks now and while 2K3 is the proclaimed "winner" already, Live has a lot going for it as well. As long as it doesn't feel too arcade-like, it'll give 2K3 a run for its money. EA SPORTS has that kind of player fanbase as well.

Anyone out there know if either of these games will allow multiple people on one system to play others online? Like 2 on 2 or something. Because I really want that option.

Well, I am assuming NBA 2K3 will allow that. This is because it was allowed in NBA 2K1 and 2K2 for the DC online.

I'm disappointed that NBA Live is online only for PS2 (PSM Mag). I wanted to buy both for the XBox. But this shifts preference to buy Live with PS2. 2k3 will surely be for the XB. Can't wait till the games begin! Tuesday fun day.
