Finally got an x box and am loving it. I got halo and amped to start off. Anyways have a slight problem. I'm getting 4.1 sound. I got the right pack and plugged it into my system. Surronds work fine but the center is non existant??? I've never had a problem with my dvd player. any tips?

You're doing everything right, drexel -- a lot of DD 5.1 games don't make use of the center channel.

Yes, though I believe the only time the center channel is used is when Cortana speaks.

I believe most XBox games, if not everything, use Dolby Digital 5.1 audio, even if they don't take full advantage. Amped definites uses DD 5.1, and the easiest way to find the snowmen is through audio clues in the surrounds.

I use the HD pack w/ Optical on one TV and the Monster cable Component Cables with Light wave on another. With the Monster cable set-up I have the L/R channels hooked directly to the TV and it seems to serve as the center channel. But if I do mute the TV I rarely here anything from the systems center channel.
5.1 audio does rule even with light center channel usage. I still remember those cheesy 6 tone tracks from my first NES oh those years ago.

I'm picking up mine tonight. Have about $100 worth of games to trade in that will offset the cost of an xbox + dvd kit + hi-def hookup + game nicely.
Looking forward to playing Halo... Can't wait for XBox live to be final.
