Somebody asked this in the EB I was in just a few minutes ago. The clerk told him not to worry, that there were plenty on top of the ones that had already been reserved.

I got a call today from EB and they said most stores got less adaptors than they thought and my pre-order was no good because they are selling them on a first-come, first-serve basis.

I had pre-ordered it with EBgames and was told yesterday that my Adapter was in process for shipping, but when I called them today they said that I wouldn't get it until the 14th of September.
I went over to Best Buy around noon time to see if they had any left and got lucky.

Got lucky and Supr Software in my neighborhood got more, and I got one! The setup was very easy - everything was automatic! I just played Madden a little while ago and noticed some lag, but not much.

Well I got screwed by We Make It Up As We Go Along Bulls--t Best Buy Policy #27,764 - which reads:
"We can only release 10 of the adapters on Wednesday, but we have to hold all of the rest until Thursday because that is what our ad states as the release date."
Either release them all or none at all - don't give me this crap about you can "only" release 10 - as if that is some written store policy.

Media Play was the Winner
After going to Best Buy (sold out) EB, Gamestop, CompUSA(said they didn't go on sale yet) and Circuit City (Huh? There are adapters for PS2... you must be wrong. Oh, and SOCOM doesn't come out til December), I found that Media Play had a few left, and I snagged one.
Woo Hoo! Time to play!!

I paid $39.99 - BTW I went to Best Buy at 6:45 PM my time and they had 5 of them. I don't know how many they started with or when they got 'em, but that's pretty good odds here in Denver!

A little off topic, but all this "our pre-orders are void" stuff would really piss me off.
I mean, I understand if it was a screw-up and they didn't get enough, but I would hazard a guess that they just take as many pre-orders as they can, and if they fill them all, great...and if not, oh well.
Seems to me that a pre-order should be a reservation on the game. I mean after all, you are promising to take your business to that particular store if they promise to deliver the merchandise. Makes me wary about doing pre-orders, at least with EB. I've usually had better luck just walking into a store on release day anyway.
Just my little rant
