Except Jack in the box has been known to poison people. So who is the Jack in the box? Which console is waiting to get online before it releases its toxic vapors?

And about the GC having no online plans: Wouldn't it be sweet if Metroid Prime had a full support and came packed with a modem, or a coupon for one of the two... Indeed it would.

I just got through with a game 4vs4 and had a blast. Didn't cost me a nickel.
Trigger, don't get so defensive, I never said xbox owners were bitter. I said MS was bitter than Sony beat them to the punch again and that is obvious. You don't see Nintendo or Sony making fun of MS or each other for their online plans do you? Play halo 16 player with a 4 way split all you want it won't affect me or my gaming on the PS2 anyway you can think of.

I kind of doubt MS is bitter that Sony got their online adaptor out 2-3 months earlier, if anything, it is getting Xbox Live tons of free publicity, and showing people how much better it is.

And sure, you don't see Sony or Nintendo bashing MS about their online plans, but that would be like my turd telling me I am smelly after I just dumped.

Huh? How is the Sony network publicizing Xbox live? In particular how is it showing that Xbox live is better?

Ya, I don't get that. How is the PS2 online promoting the XBox? Right now, I have to say the XBox Live beta test is going pretty poorly. Almost nobody is playing and NFL2K3 is broken so far.

I don't get it either, I mean PS2 online is going great, I have done THPS3 and Madden 2003 so far with no problems. I play against a ton of different people and I pay nothing. I have heard nothing but good things about Socom and then Twisted metal Black online is going to be a blast also. These games cost nothing to play online right now or in the future. Yes I had to buy the $40 adapter but don't forget that XBox live costs $50 before you can play also. Next year Xbox people will have to pay again. So tell me how everything going good for Sony online is good PR for xbox live that isn't working right in Beta testing.

Cool, I didn't realize someone who worked for MS was on this forum. Anything else you can report? I didn't realize NFL2K3 was shipped out as part of the beta either. Learning all kinds of things today!

Xbox Live isn't working in beta??

Unless something happened over the weekend, every tester at every other game forum has had nothing but good to say about it.

mr.snowmizer: NFL Fever 2003 and Re-Volt work fine. NFL2K3 does not work well at all. It's practically broken. The problem with XBox Live is nobody is playing. It's hard to find people playing online.

Speedy I deleted that as soon as I saw it on the same page I quoted ... Well I guess that's why it's a beta test.

I'm not defensive... I think it's the PS2 owners who are being defensive. They hardly beat MS to the punch. The Xbox launced with a network adapter on board... a few months later, people were gaming with it. People were playing THPS3 for months before the PS2 came out with their adapter. How has Sony beat MS to the punch at anything? They came out a year earlier, but MS wasn't trying to race back then. When MS announced a price drop, Sony immediately dropped their price a few days earlier or something not even worth mentioning. Nintendo isn't making fun of the Xbox because Nintendo doesn't even have an online plan. Sony isn't making fun of the Xbox (yet). My whole point was that you're saying that "Sony wins again!" or something and I was pointing out that Xbox owners have been able to play online games for a long time now... as for me playing with a split screen having an effect on you - I don't see why it would. Maybe you missed my point.

Xbox live is getting tons of coverage because of PS2 releasing their adaptor.. If you have been living under a rock, I will recap it for you:

Every videogame sight and magazine has spoken of the PS2 adaptor, and always brings up online gaming in general, which then leads to Xbox Live.

I have seen CNNfn and Fox News doing a report on the PS2 adaptor, as well sa then talking about Xbox Live.

So, yes, it is helping promote ONLINE gaming in general, which is also helping to promote Xbox Live.

Right now, there are hardly any people on Xbox Live, I think 5000 people to start? Xbox Live, when fully open, will have more like 100,000 right off the bat.

Trigger, PS2 users have been working around the system also with USB adapters for some time. We are talkign about the actual PS2 and Xbox live online plans here. If you are having fun so be it, so am I. Oh, and not that it matters much but M$ hadn't made their announcement yet, Sony knew it was coming and jumped out and did it a couple days earlier.

Even with 5000 people, you figure there would be more than one game available. There are no games being listed at all in any of the games quite often.

Also there is no basis that there will be 100,000 people online. When people signed up for the beta test, there was no commitment. At the time, they didn't know they would have to pay and then there were quite a few people who didn't even have a system. People signed up because they could, not because they would. To assume that every single of of those people met both requirements of paying and owning a system is a bad conclusion.

Trigger: If you want to make that as the basis of who got online first, the PS2 still beats the XBox since it was going online with Armored Core 2 and a USB modem long before the XBox was even out.

YujiNaka - so how is the Sony network "showing people how much better it is." in reference to Xbox live? You failed to address that. I can buy into people being informed about xbox live because of Sony, but I havn't seen any press saying that xbox will be better.
still
