Recommend non-fighter-race-FPS games for ps2 & xbox

In the mood to buy some games for either ps2 or xbox, but fighter games (except DOA2/3) seem to crappy to me. Tekken was so disappointing.

FPS games are only meant for PC in my opinion.

Have a few racing games, currently annoyed with Midnight Club Also played ridge racer v, was sorta ok.

More looking for jump on platform kinda games or something other than the above.

Any recommendations? Get a Gamecube? Seems all the games I find interesting are for that Or maybe the grass is just greener.
2 consoles has to be enough.

You should really get a Gamecube. If that's not an option though I suggest you try Shadow of Destiny for PS2. It's a great adventure game and it's definitely something different.

If you haven't played it yet, Jak and Daxter is a fun platformer for the PS2.

I know you said you don't want FPS's, but I highly suggest you at least give Halo a try. Also, I think Oddworld would count as a platformer, and if you like it, you can get it for a reduced price(or if you trade in an Xbox game to EB on the 8th, get it free). Also, Blinx is coming out soon. Rayman 2 is supposed to be really good, I think it's on the PS2.

Well...

Jak & Daxter is good as mentioned.
I would also look into Drakan, MDK2:Armageddon (unless you have on PC), Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, ICO, MGS2 and Sky Odyssey to name a few for PS2.

For either, Silent Hill 2 and Starfighter series.

For Xbox, Morrowind is another good choice.

There are many others as well though.

Coming up you may want to try Sly Cooper on PS2 (played the demo, was very interesting) for platformers.

I'd say try Devil May Cry or Grand Theft Auto 3. GTA3 is kind of like a third person shooter, but it's so much more.
