Just got my last issue of GamePro...
 

How can I continue this magazine without actually paying for it? Anyone?

I was wondering the same thing....I think I got in on one of those free 1-year deals or somethin, and I got my last issue yesterday.

Ditto. This was from an Electronics Botique promo, I wonder if any EB employees know if its still available or a different one has taking it's place?

I'm baffled as to why anyone would want Gamepro at all in the first place.

agreed. it was on my list of crappy game mags ever since it's inception. my biggest pet peeve are the reviews. for example, when R-Type came out for PSX along time ago, one of the reviewers had the audacity to say "It plays too much like an R-Type game." wtf? :confused:

It was free... that's why. But that's what I found out once I got it. Worst magazine ever (next to CGW). I thumbed through a few issues and then just gave up. I think this final issue I tossed on the floor without ever opening it and said "whew - glad it's the last one."

I'm in the same boat. I ended up loving my free subscription.

Not for the 2 sentence reviews of month old games with thumbnail pictures.

Because of all the great $5 off coupons you get inside.

I probably used $25 worth of those coupons.

GP definitely sucks. I didn't even bother taking advantage of the free offer last year as all the magazines would have done is fill up my trash can quicker.

Game Pro is the WORST game mag out there. It seems to be run by little kids!

Their reviews are HORRIBLE.

That's simple. Go to Qool.com , signup and earn qoolcoins. It's a pretty easy rewards program,and once you've got some qoolcoins you can bid for gamepro magazine. I got my free subscription like that :) I think it's running out now too...

The way GamePro is today is EXACTLY how EGM used to be around 5-10 years ago!

I always thought this magazine was geared more towards younger gamers. Even some of the ads seemed to be more pre-teen oriented. Like that stupid ad for the candy where one side of the kid's face is nice and sweet and the other side is rebellious and radical dude! Let your sister play videogames. WHEN YOU'RE DONE! Yeah! Eat them Smarties!

No - that's exactly the point... this magazine is for little kids. Most console magazines seem to be made for little kids and it's annoying. I'm used to reading PC gaming magazines which are typically geared towards more adult readers. PCXL and PCGamer was/is written by adults for adults... I don't have to look at reader art where some kid has drawn spider man or the zelda dude on an envelope. Some console magazines are starting to be geared more towards adults though - like Game Informer and OXM (sort-of) and XBN. Anyway - GamePro is just super lame and I wish I had taken advantage of the Best Buy coupons more. :)

I think OPM and to a lesser extent, OXM, are more adult oriented. EGM isn't too bad, although the letter art screams otherwise.

I think I need to check out Game Informer. I've heard good things about that one.

I just picked up the latest issue - the cover has a CGI girl with erect nipples poking through her shirt... must be for adults (the same way "Men's magazines" have female models in hot pants with her boob implants bursting out of a tight halter top) - anyway, in spite of that it's a good read.

I always thought Game Informer or game Winner,whatever their name is, in the days when they were tied with funcoland, was the worst! i have never in my life seen so many biased reviews in all my life. i am betting they were getting kickbacks from nintendo, for they constantly praised every nintendo64 game out there! I swear, if 2 reviewers found a 64 stinker to be OK, a 3rd reviewer gave it a 8.5, thus boosting the average. any magazine that felt FIGHTERS DESTINY kicked TEKKEN 3's ass, or DUKE NUKEM ZERO HOUR 64 kicked METAL GEAR SOLID'S ass, or QUEST64 was superior to LEGEND OF LEGAIA, VANDAL HEART2, STAR OCEAN, JADE CACOON doesnt know jack about RPG, or felt the 64 version of GEX ENTER GEX or TONY HAWK PRO SKATER was superior to the PSX version, or felt the last STREETFIGHTER game for PSX couldn't hold a candle to the old SNES editions, or said (this was typical of their n64 reviews) Command & conqurer on n64 doesnt have the much needed mv sequence, nor music, and it is a very old game, it is pricy...BUT the RAW hard power of n64 makes it a must buy" need to seek medical help FAST IMHO! That's all they kept yapping about n64's RAW hard power. What raw hard power??!!
