So why does Gamespy suck (or blow) so bad?

I've used it a couple of times. The ads are a little annoying but other than that it seems to work flawlessly.

The only other crappy thing I can think of is that you always have to exit the game every time you want to try different servers.

Doesn't seem so bad to me. Am I missing something?

It used to be good. now a days it is just suck. Mainly because most games now a days use there own methods of finding games.

It always took TONS of memory to ping servers (more than 300MB of RAM for me).

Someone recommended All-Seeing Eye to me and I've been using it ever since.

Yeah, it's not that it's a really horrible program, it's just there's a free program that's 10 times better(all seeing eye).

Same here. I've been using this for over a year now, and I haven't looked back. What I really like is the speed at which it updates itself to be able to work with all of the latest games, even the online MP demos.

I HIGHLY recommend this app!!

I've been using Gamespy since it began way back in the day (yeah, I remember when it was quakespy or some such thing) and I've never really understood why people hate it so much. I never used GS Arcade until recently. I've been using All Seeing Eye for about a year or so and it is indeed far better than Gamespy. One thing I never really liked about Gamespy was that they wouldn't let people who were using their perpetual beta program for free download the latest versions (that was only for the paid subscribers) until the update wasn't new anymore. Anyway - All Seeing Eye kicks much ass.
