PS2 Options?

Hey everyone I have a Sony Playstation 2 I have had sine its release date and have had the same problem since I got it. Well it isnt really a problem as much as an annoyance. Everytime I watch a DVD above G rating (I don't own a G DVD) I have to enter the darn code. I would love if it just played the DVD without asking for this. I am the main person who uses it for both games and DVDs, and other people who use it I dont care what they watch. I have browsed through the options before, but believe there should be a way to do this. can anyone help me, please?

Yeah I get that same problem too. I never really looked into what the problem was. I kind of assumed it was related to the fact that I didn't get the remote.

They can't make you get the remote. And the remote can't have any overall effect on the use of the machine since it did not come standard. The remote is not the reason I have to enter that damned code over and over again.

I believe if you press select and enter 7444 as the code it should disable the parental lock. I'm not exactly sure if that's how you do it, I just have mine set to the highest levels so it never asks me.

You just have to turn off parental controls in the menu. You turn it off, it asked you to enter your code, you do and no more blocks.

Hey Josh, I just tried that, don't know if it'll stay working, but hopefully it will. Thanks for that.

Yeah, I know, it was just one of my wild-eyed ideas.

I have done that a thousand times MistisoMan and yet I still have that problem. Asks me for my password all the time, huge annoyance.

Yeah, I tried going to the parental controls during a movie, and nope I still have to enter it on the next damn DVD. Is there a way to fix it? Anyone?

Mods, can this be bumped, please. Thank You

Try looking in the system manual and it should tell you how to save your settings. The problem is your setting them but not saving them. It also lists again in the manual with the remote how to save your settings.

Shite, gotta find that thing. I was trying to get away with being lazy and having someone else solves my problems. But you're right. If it is not found I will be ranting on here more, though. (=

I had the same problem. It has to do with resetting the PS2 after you make your changes. I think you have to actually shut the machine completely off, or something like that, in order to save your changes. It's in the manual, which of course I can't find now. Good luck!

I don't think you are the only one; actually I don't know if anyone can.

1. Select "Parantal Control" using the directional buttons, then press the X button

2. Enter your password

3. Select "Level" using the directional buttons, then press the X button

4. Select "Off" then press the X button.

Note: To save your changes, be sure to eject the DVD before pressing the RESET button or turning off the unit with the MAIN POWER switch. Please note that changes will not be saved if you reset or turn off the console without first ejecting the DVD.
