I'm moving up in my house status right now -- need one or two more quests and I can start construction on my stronghold.
The most irritating thing for me is finding all this valuable loot that I can't sell. I found the drunken mudcrab merchant who has 10000 gold, but if I want to sell him a 17000 sword, it literally takes over 5 minutes to reduce the cost to 10000 so he'll buy it from me. I can't even bribe him to give him extra cash to cover the transaction -- really ridiculous. Does the "Creeper" have more cash than that? I've yet to meet him. On the plus side, I captured a couple golden saints and used one of them to enchant an exquisite ring with open lock for 100 points -- won't worry about scrolls no more. Next I need to find an absorb health spell and enchant my axe. Also, what do the "bound item" spells do? What do I do other than absorb health if I just want my weapon to do more flat damage? thanks, Tuan Jim |

They buy at full price, so sell him a bunch of items that are 1k-10k in price. You are essentially building up their inventory. Once you've sold him some lesser items, barter for you high-dollar item. You'll get equal value in smaller-priced items. Sell those back and you've made your money. Usually I can go 10% above the actual price and he'll give it to me. Rest 24hrs to replinish their money. |
I honestly can't believe I'm this INTO this game. :)
at first I totally hated it, and now, I'm in love with it. I love how you can do whatever/go wherever you want. It's sweet. |

Anyone here figgered out the solution to the Vivec Temple "Canal Puzzle".
I've tried everything and can't solve it. If you know the answer post it in a spoiler black thingy. I dun wanna go look up a cheat/walkthrough thing, don't wanna know something I'm not supposed to by accedent. Also does anyone know of any place with REALY hard monsters? |
Haven't tried the canal puzzle yet, but I did find out something neat about the resist magica spell. Though it is a double edge sword since it reduces both the effects of positive and negative errrrr effects on your character. Some guy gave me a pair of boots called the boots of blinding speed, it boosts your speed by 200 points, but also causes 100% blindness. First time i put them on the screen turned black. Bit later on a I found a set of armour in tel fyr which gives 60% resist magica. Popped on the boots and low and behold, the screen dims, but I can see. Cuts down on travel time especially when you get to the fifth trial where you have to do a lot of walking.
|
Yea, I thought those boots were a joke.
"Blinding Speed" .... oh I'm blind, funny, ha ha. Cha-Ching. Just started a new char. Mage-Thief. Paterning him after Vampire Hunter D. Light Armor and a Long Sword. Strong Magic and high intelegence. Also for some odd reason I started the game off with 75 endurance. Not complaining but Geeze. |

The new player is:
Dark Elf the Lady Primary traits: Endurance, Intellegence The dark elf gets a bonus, the lady gives it a bonus I think(?), and since I set endurance as a primary trait it starts off higher. I think you can do a similar thing with a Red-Gurad on strength. |
the Lady gives you an automatic 25 point boost in personality and something else. Pretty much the best sign there is.
Tuan Jim |
that's what Ive used for all my characters, and I've had no problems
|
I just started this game last week and I'm hooked. I'm a redguard under the sign of the lady, which gives me that big boost. I was thinking of trying a character a little more original..
By the way, I just picked up Dungeon Siege yesterday, and I think Morrowind has me totally spoiled. DS looks like crap to my eyes now.. has anyone else had a similar problem? I just picked up NWN today (for $14.99 SWEEEEET) and I'm actually afraid I'm going to be dissapointed because of Morrowind. |

I have a case study in question regarding guilds and how they can mess up each other's storylines: (spoilers ahoy)
Spoiler:
|
Rabbit, can you remind me who Hrundi is? I got a dwemer ruins quest from that person, but now I can't remember who they are or where they're located.
thanks, Tuan Jim |
Hrundi is the Fighters Guild guy in either Ald Ruhn or Sadrith Mohr.
|
lets see since I don't know how to use spoiler tags, lets see if I can make it through this without spoiling anything. Rabbit, when you're talking to the head of the thieves guild, don't bring up the head of the fighters guilds name or else what you said will happen. If you just do that he'll still give you quests. Hope that helps.
|
Another quest(ion) regarding Dwemer ruins and whatnot. I've retrieved the translation guide, but when I go talk to Balas, the guy in Gnisis, he doesn't give me any more real information. Even though I've already picked up a tube and "Divine Metaphysics" and the plans for a Dwemer Airship, he doesn't seem to acknowledge them. Are any of those things used anywhere else by anyone else in the game?

Originally posted by xmiyux Where/how did you get NWN for 14.99 - that is an incredible deal. I go there a lot (since the sale started, almost daily to see what was traded in). Anyway, I started NWN tonight and I love that too. Different than Morrowind, but IMHO, just as good. Dungeon Siege is definitely going back to the store though. Not that it's a bad game, it just pales in comparison. |

I joined the Molag Tong. Sweet. Assasin for Hire.
I duno about the Fighters Guild-/-Thieves Guild problem. Those two clash from the start so I did one or the other. The New Char I'm playing is a Dark Elf, sign of Lady, "Vampire Hunter", Right now I'm appart of: Thieves Guild, Mages Guild, Imperial Legion, House Redoran, and the Molag Tong. The Molag Tong quests are odd. It doesn't matter what guildhouse you go to when, you will always get the certin set of quests in the certin order. Least thats how it seems so far. Balmora gave me a quest, I screwed it up, I loaded a save, went to Ald'Run they gave me the same exact quest I got from Balmora. Wanna know how to join the Molag Tong? |
whoohoo, many thanks rabbit for showing me how to use those tags. Yes, yes i would like to know how to joing the molag tong. The hq in balmora tells me to talk to the head guy in vivec, but vivec be a big place and i've yet to find him. A nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Hot to Join the Morag Tong (by BrinStar)
Spoiler:
|
Another thing about that guy in the Ald Ruin mages guild....
Spoiler:
|
many thanks for the detailed explanation brinstar. think i'll finish up the regular guilds quest before joinin though, seems like their quests may conflict. Should be fun though.
|
You are welcome.
I just wish I could type better. Forgive the grammar and spelling, I had my bass guitar in my lap when I typed all that. I had to pay 8,000 to the guards yesterday because when I killed one of my "targets" it pissed off everyone else in the Inn, they all ran into the room to kill me so I ran out and closed the door behind me making them stay in the room. Problem is in my brilliance I forgot to get the saguine item from my Target. The whole point of killing her. When I tried to open the door there were 5 people behind it trying to get out, so the door wouldn't buge. I ended up having to cast about 20 "Greater Fireballs" at the door so it would eventualy kill everyone on the other side. So I had to pay the guards for wiping out the antire Inn. Damn the game for that. In the sequal, patch, update, or add-on I hope they fix that bug. I call it "The Doorjam Massacre of Palegrid" |
You probably already know this Brinstar, but for anyone just starting out - That's why whenever I know I have to kill someone in a room full of people I get them to attack me first by taunting them repeatedly until they attack. It's easier for taunt success (if you don't have a high speechcraft) if you're at high disposition with the NPC. So bribe them first. You can always get the money back anyway after you kill them.
This works especially well if you need to recover an item from an evidence chest in the forts. |
True, but when your in the Morag Tong and your out to make a Kill the Kill will never talk to you.
Soon as you talk to it, it will say "goodbye" and you wont have the chance to Preswade it any. Sometimes they will still attack first, but even when that happens the others in the room will still join the fight. Its one of the quirks of the Morag Tong quests. I just made Guildmaster :) Now to go back and pick up the Redoran House quest where I left off. (the first quest) Anyone know where the damn Crab Lady (snikker) is? They say she's "due west of Ald Rhuin" but I've covered the land and can't find her. The Guar Heard lady with Crab Problems (chuckle). |
Took me a looong time to find her. When they say out west, they really mean due west -- virtually on the coast -- but still straight across from Ald'ruhn.

Well, I just bought this game(after renting it a week ago) and have decided to start over. So, if you could post what you think is the best race, class, etc, I'd greatly appreciate it! :)

Versatility and (Easy Char):
Race: Imperial Class: Combat Specialty Traits: Strength, Agility Primary Skills: Long blade Heavy Armor Restoration Merchantile Acrobatics Secondary Skills: Enchant Speachcraft Athletics (marksman, security, or sneak) Destruction I recomend not using security as a main skill and instead as soon as posible enchanting an Exquisite ring with 100 point Unlock. All you'll need for lock picking. You can even steal the nessicary soul gems from the mages guild quest. Same goes for Levitate, water walk, chemilion(sp bad), and any of the bound/summon spells you prefer. ASAP find a daedric weapon that fits your char, Dai-Kitana, Battle Axe, Claymore, shortsword, or dagger. Then enchant it with a spell up to a high level. I've found Absorb Health is the best since its non-elemental and you get the health back. A dai-kitana can take 54 points of absorb health per hit, and ifyou togle the numbers it can do between 40 and 64 a good range, making the total amount per hit be between 41 and 100. The daedric claymore can do up to 120 with absorb health, but those seem to be harder to find. |
Maybe someone could help me here and let me know if i ran into a bug in the PC version.
First off i have exploited one bug that allows me to have permanent bound gauntlets and a permanent bound dagger. The dagger i have had for forever so i know that isn't the issue - the gauntlets are new. Now when i try to talk to the guy in the mages guild in Ald'Ruhn who is on the bottom floor in the little alchemist nook he will no longer barter or train. Every time i try he says that he won't buy that skooma from me and that he won't trade with me until i get rid of it. The thing is i don't have a skooma. If i go and talk to him without the gantlets on he says the same thing. For the life of me i can't figure out what in my inventory is pissing him off. Has anyone else had this issue? |
Weird. Try dropping everything except the clothes you are wearing. Then try talking again.
|
Strange haven't had that problem either. But a quick question, I've been lookin all over the place for a restore magica spell (assummin this spell exists). I wanna enchant a ring or amulet with this spell so I don't have to worry about carryin a buncha restore magica potions but for the life of me I can't find someone who sells this spell. Any ideas where I can buy this spell?
|
I'm not sure, but try a silver, magic, or daedric weapon. I think they're the only weapons to use against some creatures. I've been using the Daedric weapons & have been able to kill everything.
|
I had already figured it out and deleted my post, but thanks anyway! I used a magic weapon, by the way.

Any ideas where I can buy this spell? To my knowledge (I beat the game twice) there is no Restore Magika spell. that would be a catch 22. Spend Magic to gain magic. And it couldn't be an enchantment untill you got the spell. I kinda doubt its in there. However... If you give a ring "Fortify Magic" to a high level, you can spend out all your magic, cast the ring, you'll gain that level of magic back (its really just increased your total with the difrence as new magic) and then cast all that magic. Unequip the ring, then equip it again (cast it on you again) and it should go back up again. I don't know if that will work like you like it, but its just a theory, worth a try. I normaly just put all the spells I use into my armor. That way I always have what I want, where I need it. |
ahhhhhh, I figure a spell like that didn't exist, I saw the restore magica effect on one of em magic scrolls (can't remember which one) and assummed there would be a regular spell that does the same. But that's right, I didn't even think about enchanting an item with a spell that I wanna use. It'd prolly be more useful since my character is a redguard with a mighty 50 mp points. Thanks and I'll definately try out the fortify magic tech. Good stuff, no more runnin around from place to place lookin for that stupid spell.
