My super scope batteries leaking acid

Hi, I recently got a super scope, and have already had a couple problems, 1st, I guess it was left on, and it drained the batteries. Now we make sure to shut it off after using it. So, we got some more batteries, now this time I went to got play it today and all the batteries were dead and leaking acid, this is kinda pissing me off, anyone know why its acting like this, and how I can prevent this, thanks

James

My guess is that the circuit is messed up because the previous owners let the batteries leak acid and corrode the connectors. All batteries leak acid if left along long enough and it does weird stuff to your equipment. I did it once a long time ago when I was young with a remote control car. I don't really have an answer I thought I'd bump it just incase someone else might know.
