While I think it looks great as well, it looks like it is only as good (graphic wise) as Mario 64. I suppose there gets to be a point that they cannot improve much, and maybe we have hit it.

I thought the graphics look good. Maybe I'm seeing them through rose-tinted glasses though.
Evil Mario isn't wario.. Wario is getting his own GC game.. this is some other new villain I think.

You care that they are rehashing the story for Mario. What do you think they have been doing since the game was released the first time? At least now he's not saving the princess. Frankly, I don't care about the story because I play Mario for the gameplay. I was the biggest fan of Mario 64 and beat it with 120 stars like 8 times. I can't WAIT for this game.

I don't care what anyone says, that does not look like Mario 64 graphics-wise.

I did expect the game to look better at E3, but for once it didn't occur.
Still, anyone that says the game looks the same graphically as Super Mario 64 (on the N64, not being played at high resolution on an emulator) is smoking crack.
I popped in Mario 64 yesterday and it looks like absolute crap.
Sunshine is much clearer, much more detailed, and has much better animation.
It's not going to win in "best graphics" awards, but the games engine still looks nice, and from the commercials looks to run very smoothly.
Plus it looks to be just as fun as Mario 64, and that's all that matters.

Cool thanks for posting those pics! This looks cool! Especially that new villain! I really like how the graphics look, those screenshots don't do the game justice, on Extended Play they showed a lot of footage of the game from a direct feed and plays really smooth and animated. Like that one picture where that monster thingy is chasing Mario, its not just walking, but its walking and jelly-like bouncing up and down, really cool! I also like how the game is really colorful, there are too many games that are too drab and dark.
Its hard to believe but in about 2 weeks this game is coming out in Japan. I'm really tempted to import but I want to be able to read everything in the game too

Yeah, no kidding. Who cares about the story in a mario game, or any platformer (sonic, spyro, crash, etc.) for that matter. The stories are all lame, and pretty much non-existent. The games are just fun to play (assuming you enjoy platformers), and that's the reason they are so popular.

Yeah, I agree Zig. There needs to be a story for that purpose.
But to complain that the idea of having a new evil Mario it is rehash is pretty silly as pretty much every game in any platformer series features a story and enemies that are rehash from previous games.
