Simple question about World Series Baseball for XBOX

Man, will this sound stupid. I apologize.

Anyway, I am thinking of joining the ranks of the XBOXers. I've been thinking about it awhile, and basically, it's decided. I'd like to pick up this game as well. So far, from what I've read, it seems like a good baseball game. Anyway, as it's listed in the coming soon sticky in this forum, and on other places (like half.com, where I'd like to buy it) as World Series Baseball 2k3. Everywhere else, including the front of the box, all I see is World Series Baseball with a pic of Jason Giambi.

Can someone tell me which is the real title of this game? Or at least assure me that these are both the same game, so I don't feel stupid when I get some PC game or something from a half.com sale?

Thanks so much, and I have appreciated all of your input as I've been deciding on a console.

It is in fact World Series Baseball. It is believed that next year the games will be called World Series Baseball 2k3. I owned the game and it was a very good game, but then Eternal Darkness came and I traded WSB in.

Thanks for the reply! So then, if half.com says it's WSB 2K3, should I hesitate, or should I still buy it? There's no pic, but it says it was released in May 2002. -Thanks

I would say it is the same game, but I would e-mail the seller if possible before buying. Many people mistake this game as WSB 2k3, but I think they named it just WSB because it is X-Box exclusive whereas next year it is supposedly going multi-console.

You know how the sports games that are released later in the year have next year's date on the box (like with car models)? Well, for a while, EA actually had its Triple Play games dated with the following year, even though the game would be released in April. Naturally, Sega followed suit with its WSB games, so that's why they probably have it listed as 2K3 (so there's no confusion with last year's Dreamcast game, known as 2K2). Since EA has done the right thing and are using the right year, Sega probably will too.
