Although I own an Xbox I am still waiting for that game.
As good as Halo is I could not get into the controls.
Perhaps Project Ego, Knights of the Old Republic, Elder Scrolls or something else will make me feel I was glad I got the system

These are games I honestly feel are worth buying a whole system just to play and all are games I bought and felt they were well worth full price. I limited it to my favorite two or three for each console. No future games are listed because you can't judge a game strictly by how great you think it will be. Game Cube will have many games worth getting a system for, but until they are out I'm not listing them.

This is tough but:
Dreamcast:
Virtua Tennis - no question, Sega Tennis 2k2 is a better game overall, but Virtua Tennis was just so much better than anything else at the time.
Grandia 2 - just a very polished rpg and i loved the first so..
Shenmue - Not something I would play over and over, but what an experience
PSX:
FF7 - still my fav even after playing the old ones and tactics
Tekken 3 - pure fun
Grandia - would have been nice to play on the Saturn but I didn't have too much trouble with the psx slowdown.
I have heaps of good psx games but somehow I have trouble coming up with many individual titles that aren't either bettered on other platforms, or weren't really that great in the long run (like Xenogears was well worth playing once but I don't think I could ever bring myself to play it through again).
Genesis
Streets of Rage series - still no better game of this genre has been made since
Phantasy Star - go and read some of the web tributes to this great series
Populous - still incredibly addictive despite console interface
Toejam and Earl - awesome 2 player fun with a neat theme
EA Hockey - EA's first ice hockey game on the genesis and so smooth and addictive even though I couldn't care a less about the sport.
