Hey...Got an XBOX Tonight !

Well I got an XBOX tonight.. picked up the HDTV pack to go with it and rented a copy of Halo. Wow what a difference from the PS2. The 480p really makes alot of difference the image is nice and Anti aliased and smooth. I can't believe Halo what an excellent game, When I had my PS2 the game I enjoyed was Red Faction, but Halo blows it away, of course I got stuck right away trying to find my way off the ship.
My only concern is the Health bar in the game, but I have my Brightness a couple clicks from middle and the contrast also about 3 clicks down, the sets been ISf's so I should be ok, I'll just try to limit Halo (as much as I can) still I wish microsoft could have a setting to make the Hud go away, Red faction had this.

What also got me is the excellent sound and I don't even have it hooked up for 5.1 yet, Have to get an optical cable. This payday gonna have to find myself a copy of Halo and WSB2K2 to buy.

So far I'm very happy with the Xbox....

You've made a great purchase. What brand of TV are you using? I've got a Mistu HDTV and I play Halo all the time without any burn in issues. You might want to check your local Sams club, some of them are selling Halo for $27.91.

If you think the sound is good now. Wait until you hook it up to the 5.1. What a difference.

Congrats on buying the BEST system

I also have my XBOX hooked up to a HDTV, in my case it's a Toshiba 55". Simply heaven!

I also have not experienced ANY burn-in or artifacts with my TV. I think the secret is not to let it remain on for 2.5 days while you are on vacation

I like HALO, but am having a hard time finding time to play it. We have little ones who I dont want around all the death and lound noises and stuff.

I can tell you to try WRECKLESS, my favorite game so far.

The Xbox Club will continue to grow.. Muahahahahhaha!!!!

Actually I know alot of people augmenting their PS2 with an XBox in my fraternity.. Seems like a weird combination, PS2 *AND* XBox, with no Gamecube....

I joined the X-box club last tuesday, and terminated my membership in the PS2 club.... cant afford both systems, and even if I could, I don't really have the time.

Play Oddworld and Jet Set Radio Future.... 2 awesome games IMHO

What's weird about it? As blasphemous as it may sound, some people just might not care for Mario and Zelda. Without those Nintendo franchise games (which are somewhat few and far between), I don't see many compelling reasons to go with the GC over PS2 or XBox (Okay, there is Resident Evil, but still... Or, do you just think the GC is the logical choice for a 2nd system because it's $50 cheaper?

I think the XBox and PS2 makes a great combo. PS2=biggest and best overall library of games/XBox=best system technically, DD 5.1 sound, usually the best choice for multiplatform games such as Tony Hawk and Madden

Welcome to the club, Dave.

Well, there is more overlap in game releases between the PS and X-box, than between the X-box and GCN or the PS2 and GCN. So owning a GCN and X-box or GCN and PS2 will afford one more unique releases to pick from.

But as you say, for the people that don't like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, etc. then the GCN isn't a great choice, though games like the RE series and Eternal Darkness could change that.
