Is it possible to finish FFX without doing the sidequests/getting ultimate weapons?
I am just wondering (because I do not have too much time to spend on this game), is it possible to finish FFX without doing the sidequests/getting ultimate weapons?

yes, it is completely possible. it's not terribly difficult either. depending on where you are in the game, the hardest bosses will probably be maester seymour on top of mt. gagazet and yunalesca. the final boss inside sin was a cake walk.

Yeah, it's possible. My 10 year old cousin didn't complete all of the sidequests and didn't get any of the Ultimate Weapons (well, he got a few, but he didn't get the crests and sigils so they were useless), but he was still able to beat the game.
Quick question for those who've beaten the game: (not really a spoiler, but oh well)

I didn't get any of the final/ultimate super duper weapons... and the last chain of battles was too easy... maybe I spent too much time leveling up? I was Argon, the dude in the red thing with the sword. Anyways, he got damged for 2000. It was that gatto guy. Umm... spencer? Names are eluding me, been several months... but I was able to get through all the battles after you go into sin? without getting damaged, besides the 2000.

I just beaten Yunalesca and now in control of the airship. I will try to beat the game without doing the sidequests.
Thanks to all your info.

While getting the ultimate weapons is not necessary, i strongly suggest you invest the time to get the magnus sisters summon. Especially if you're a fan of old school final fantasy games. The other two summons that are required to get the magnus sisters are also pretty useful.

I beat it fine the first time without doing them. After I went back and did them it made the whole thing much easier.
Getting the ultimate weapons was very annoying though. The chocobo race for one. I still have nightmares about chocobos. Then the butterfly one was confusing. The lightning one was just tedious. Oh well, the game was still a lot of fun. Can't wait for 12
