Ordered it from ebgames. Can't wait to play it, although World Series Baseball may demand more attention.

I will buy it. I have a $5 coupon & $10 gift certificate burning a hole in my pocket for Best Buy.
Just to make sure...it appears that it is not one of those puzzle solving games like Silent Hill or Resident Evil...correct??? I hate puzzle solving.

This game looks like balls-to-the-walls action. IGN's review made is especially clear that this game was not akin to Resident Evil.
Here's a quote from their review:
Killing zombies has never been more fun than in Hunter: The Reckoning. The game has auto-targeting, so the worry isn't in hitting or missing zombies, it's in taking them down as fast as possible. Because zombies swarm. The start of the game eases you into zombie-killing, but you will quickly find that it's easy to have the entire screen packed with bad guys. There's never a lull in the action and never a moment to rest. The control scheme is perfect for the constant action. Not once in the many hours of playing Hunter have my hands cramped or tired. For all of the non-stop craziness, I'm able to pump shotgun blasts into the stomachs of the undead without pause. The task of dispatching zombies never gets tedious.
Also:
Hunter isn't a Resident Evil-type game. This isn't survival horror, so you don't have to worry about wetting your pants with fear.

Anyway, only get Hunter if you have people to play with you. If you are going to play it single-player I have a feeling you will bore of it quickly or get frustrated.

I found Spiderman cheap for the PC and thought it was just okay....

I'm gonna pass on this one for now. A couple of reasons:
1. I'm single player (unless online gaming applies)
2. I return to Israel tomorrow with the following unopened games to get into:
a. Spiderman (xbox)
b. Sonic Adventure 2 (dreamcast)
c. Rayman advance (GB advance - airplane trip passes quicker
)
d. SW 2: Jedi outcast
e. Morrowind
f. Soldier of Fortune 2
As you can see, I'm gonna be busy for a while....

Mine came via FedEx this morning...
Not sure why Best Buy does this; only hurts their business.

It's hard to give this game a review. I played with a friend of mine for 4 hours last night and don't have any complaints. Graphics are good. Gameplay is perfect. It's a great multiplayer game. When you play 1 player you can zoom in closer. If you have any questions just post them here.

Got the game and it's a good buy for fans of Gauntlet and beat em ups with some depth to them. The game is a bit less then Gauntlet in certain aspects: very little items and powerups to acquire, more linear levels, less enemy types. However, the game makes up for this in a deeper combat system: more spells and specific character class exclusive spells, and melee combos.
I played for about an hour by myself and another hour in a four player game. For me I think the game is harder in 4 player. For the reason that in some levels you'll be in corridors and the game gets so cramped and that you'll easily be overwhelmed, lose your place, and dead before you know it. Another negative is that you can't change weapons or spells on the fly. You have to find a safe spot without enemies or run and then scroll over towards the weapon/spell you want then equip it. The reason being is that there's a 2 second or so animation of you character getting the weapon. So you can't equip another weapon while fighting which is problematic when fighting a barrage of enemies and you run out of ammo for a special weapon.
On the upside the game features some great graphics, but the enviroments aren't very detailed. The city reminds me of Silent Hill, but for a town that's supposed to be in the middle of a riot the streets are bare of any cars or activity. I'll recomend the game for fans of games like Gauntlet, Smash TV, Cannon Spike, and anything similiar. The game doesn't change much or revolutionize the genre but it's a solid game for fans of this type. For me I'd give it a 7 out of a 10. A decent rental, but I'll sell it back once I'm done. I'd rather play Gauntlet: Dark Legacy with 3 friends then Hunter.

Let me just say I spent quite a bit of time on this game. I fail to enjoy this for a number of reasons.
1. Control - The controller configs given are numerous, however only one or two options are changed. With the Fire button always staying locked to the Right Anaqlog stick, and 400+ enemies to kill per level, I became quite tired and often frustrated. Aside from melee weapons, it is just as annoying when using ranged based weapons.
2. Storyline - A storyline that rivals Episode 1 for worst ever. I won't spoil anything, but really look close and question the dialogue and situation. Part of the storyline leads me to the next question.
3. Since when do Zombies and Monsters spawn in? The whole premice of the situation is that the Hunters are "imbued". Meaning they see the Zombies and Monsters among the living. If this is true, A) why do they spawn in and B) where is the rest of the town. You would think if Rockstar and DMA could do it with GTA3 (with tons more AI going on in general) that Hunter on the more powerful X-Box could do even more. Guess their engine is pretty poor. Don't get me wrong, in some instances there are 30+ enemies onscreen, which although impressive, is lacking in the reality department.
4. Interactivity. Where is it? There are only a handful of items that can be utilized to help the Hunter's efforts. A couple of vehicles to blow up, some oil drums and a couple windows to smash. In a Hack 'N' Slash type game, I would expect to be able to use everything within a town, church and so on, at my disposal. Take games of old like Final Fight and Captain America & The Avengers. Where these games were simply side scrolling Hack 'N' Slash games, levels incorporated items that could be used on the enemies. Where are the items here? The levels, especially the town, is lacking so few elements to interact with. No benches or mailboxes can be picked up. Only the few cars that will explode can be jumped atop on, and windows breaking?.. why? There is no reason for this except just to do it. No powerups behind them and no hidden level through this means. Barely is seen, other than fire and a couple abandoned vehicles, that a riot was in progress. Not even dead bodies??
5. Camera - Just try playing this game with 4 players. Although a co-op type game, you will find a bounding sphere around the characters, which is quite small and limiting the players. Just try picking up that weapon which is just out of reach while 30-40 enemies are on screen. Try to move while one of your teammates has died. You'll find that you will be handcuffed by the camera angles offered and limitations. There should have been better programming for this.
6. Real Time Movies. Well although they are real time, which is a pleasure, the model qualities for most of the humans are subpar and more like a medium res Dreamcast game. If you think i'm wrong, maybe you should check out the "Rave" (More like kids from the 70's meet Jar Jar Binks).
7. Worst End Boss ever. No joke. When you break it down and see it for what it is. Well... you be the judge, but not one I spoke with liked it.
I for one enjoy Hack 'N' Slash games, but found this game to be a huge let down with alot of hype. Whats it have going for it? Well details for the Zombie models are pretty good. The surroundings are decent and lighting is ho-hum. The screen shots shown before release were of course on a PC monitor and very close up. You never get that close in the game. I for one wish I had my time back.
BTW, I forgot to mention. One and two player modes - If you rescue One Bystandard, you get One Life. In three and four player modes, It's Two Bystandards for One Life. Believe me guys, you think the game is hard with one player, try with 3 or 4. Totally balanced wrong.
