The Matrix Video Game (as seen in Matrix Revisited)???

Hey guys, it's my first time in the video game forum, so I'm not sure if this topic has been brought up or not.

I wanted to know if anybody has ANY info on the upcomming Matrix video game (I believe that it's scheduled to be released in August, can anybody confirm?).

I wonder if it's going to be a third person shooter type game, or a two-on-two type game (Mortal Kombatish kind of thing...I sure hope not though)...

Thanks!

I believe Interplay is doing it, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

1) The preview on The Matrix Revisted DVD does show 1 person fighting off like 4 other peopleso I think we can rule this out. That's what I think I remember but I could be wrong.

2) I think they no better than pick up the righst to make a Matrix video game, do video capture for it and then release it as a crappy Kombat style video game. I like Mortal Kombat but The Matrix game shouldn't be "reduced" to something like this.

Interplay's been working on this one since the original movie came out -- granted they've hyped it less than Daikatana was, but still.

www.fatbabies.com has periodic "updates' of their "progress".

If you're interested, someone has released a complete conversion mod of Max Payne to make it play like the Matrix. Do a little hunting on the web... if you can't find it, let me know.

Thanks a lot Static Cling, I knew about the Matrix plug-in for Max Payne for a while now, it really does look great! (some flaws here and there, but it's all good!!! ).
I'm hoping for The Matrix to be a Max Payne type of game, I really enjoyed it.

Perhaps I didn't search hard enough, but for the few minutes I used to browse the site, I couldn't seem to find anything in relation to The Matrix game. I would greatly appreciate a link(s) of some sort. Thanks.

I don't know what the game will be like yet, but I think it should definitely have your character jacking into computers along the way to learn new abilities (like jumping buildings and kung-fu, etc.). Some of these might only be available online.

I can say that although Interplay HAD the rights, they no longer do.

Shiny was, and still is the developer. Interplay sold off the rights, which Infogrames picked up.

Its called Enter the Matrix and is tenatively scheduled for May 2003 (acording to Infogrames release calendar). It will be released for Xbox, GameCube, PS2 and PC. (to release mwith the second movie).

Sadly, that's all I know... Infogrames has been quite tight-lipped, and I know for certain that they are considering doing more.

Before Interplay lost the rights, the game was going to come out on Xbox first, with features exclusive to the Xbox. I do remember reading at one point that it was going to me a MMORPG (massively multiplayer online RPG), but I can't remember where I read that. I don't know what the deal is now, though.

The rights for a Matrix MMORPG have gone to another company. I believe Sony was originally trying for them but someone else beat them out. I just read about it and will try to find who got it.
