More Sega Gamecube love! 'Virtua Fighter Quest' & 'Beach Spikers' announced!

After the unbelievable F-Zero news, Sega continues to show its Gamecube support. This past weekend Sega held their 'GameJam2' show in Japan. During the Sega AM2 presentation, legendary programmer Yu Suzuki announced both 'Beach Spikers' and 'Virtua Fighter Quest' would be coming soon to Gamecube!

*Virtua Fighter Quest* :
Currently planned for 2003, (tentatively titled) 'Virtua Fighter Quest' will hit the GameCube sometime in 2003, marking the 10th anniversary of the VF series. The game will feature every character that has appeared in the Virtua Fighter franchise. Mr. Suzuki explained that the game is an Action-RPG featuring a power meter where players kick with the A-button. He also clarified that it will not be skewed towards a younger audience, contrary to a recent Sega interview which implied differently (regarding a possible VF game).

*Beach Spikers* :
AM2 will be porting its Naomi 2 arcade volley ball game to the GameCube hopefully in time for release this Summer. The team is currently cooking up a variety of additions that look to take the home version far beyond the arcade. Included will be an arcade mode of play along with a training mode, a versus mode for up to four players and, perhaps most importantly, a world tour mode.

Is it just me, or does "Virtua Figher Quest" sound like a worthless game?

I usually reserve judgement on a game until I play it, or at least see it. Could suck though. Who knows? We don't.

It could end up being an excellent game, but we'll just have to wait and see. But I'm sure there are plenty of GC owners out there that would just as much like a true VF game for their GC.

Wasn't Shenmue the Virtua Fighter Quest/RPG that they were working on? I remember them saying that it was.

This game will probably play very closely to Shenmue, which could make it very cool (if you like Shenmue that is but a lot people don't).
Sounds interesting, but I'm with jeffdsmith, i'll wait till I see some pics or know more information before I pass judgement. Knowing Sega it should be awesome though, they treat Virtua Fighter with great care, it is a really highly respected franchise in Japan (moreso than in the U.S.)

Note to Sega: stop it already with putting all the sports games on the GC! (i'm not a big fan of sports games, with the exception of extreme sports like Soccer Slam which rocks! .
