Can anyone confirm or deny this??
I was just reading gamecube weekly (www.gamecubeweekly.com) and they printed a quote that supposedly came from Sega (they were giving their awards to different publishers:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Finally, the “Developer/Publisher We Hate the Most”
Award goes to the group that’s given the cube the least
or treated cube owners like crap. This year the voting
was close but in the end Sega’s comment:
“I think it is nonsense to directly port Virtua Fighter
to the GameCube. For example, we can make it Virtua
Fighter Kids to curtail to the lower age demographic.
The game system and fun factor should not be changed
so that these players can then move on to the next
step with the actual Virtua Fighter."
Helped push them into the winner’s circle. Way to go Sega,
it’s not like any of us really wanted to play VF4 anyway.
It’s only the best fighting game since Soul Calibur. Oh
wait... we are getting SC2. So –bleep- you Sega!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Can anyone confirm that Sega actually said something like this?
I gotta agree with the part that says that Sega is giving the least love to the GC though---------Sonic is the only exclusive title we get, whereas X-box gets Shenmue, PS2 gets Grandia, and everything else is shared between PS2 and X-box---- and all GCN gets is the ports

BTW, this "Grandia going to PS2" stuff is getting ridiculous - Sega does NOT own Grandia - GameArts does. Sega has NO control on where Grandia ends up. So stop listing it as if it's Sega's fault.

So is Home Run King
Which would you rather have----Home Run King and Super Monkey ball (GCN) or Panzer Dragoon Saga and Shenmue (X-box)? Like I said, GCN is not getting much love from Sega (sports titles don't count).

Virtua Fighter Kids on Saturn was a great game! Although I don't agree with what the Sega head had to say (hopefully the great sales of Biohazard will change perceptions in Japan), I would love to see Virtua Fighter Kids for Gamecube.

Nintendo builds a system marketed and intended for a young demographic. They make little to NO effort (save two titles) to attract games that appeal to older gamers (older than 11-12) and it is a wonder that this is the threatment GC gets from developers?
I had a GC and sold it because the games started to go exactly the same (young) way that the N64 went and none of Bid N's promises of aiming at older gamers have materialized (and RE does not a system make, and promised games that have yet to see the light of day do not count).
I love Nintendo, but I hate the fact that they refuse to recognize a huge section of their fan base (like me) that started on an NES, but have aged.
Pick up any issue of Nintendo Power and you who Nintendo is aiming for, don't be upset when the hit the mark and developers notice.

Videogame audience has changed over the years. Back in the 80s, it was mostly kids that played videogames. Now, it's mostly adults (18-30) that play video games.

This could be applied to any developer so far, including Nintendo.

There are only a couple of titles that I personally would like to see come to GC: GTA3 and VF4.
It's not worth the $$ to get a PS2 for a few games, especially since they could look better on GC. What's very annoying is that GC ports have been so sloppy.
