Interact 16X memory card for Gamecube
Ok, I only have 1 memory card for the GC, and it's Nintendo's small/crappy one. I'm constantly having to delete files off of it to make room for more saves (I rent a lot).
So obviously I'm looking for a better solution.
I dont' want to get another crappy 4mega bit card, so I'm thinking about getting an Interact 16mega BYTE card.
IGN has given it a good review, but I hear Interact cards have given people trouble in the past.
Anyone here have experience with them?
I really hope Resident Evil comes with a card, cuz if it doesn't I'll def. have to get anothe memory card.

I have had one of these 16x memory cards for a little over a month now, and I have had no problems with it. I bought it to be able to use the franchise mode in All-Star Baseball 2003, which needs 150 blocks. I have also been using the card for all my other saves as well.
So no complants here.

Nintendo's First Party Memory Card: 59 blocks for $19.99.
Number of Nintendo Memory Cards to equal 1 Interact card: 21.7 at a cost of $433.68.
I'd go with the Interact card any day of the week.

But I've always subscribed to the old "you get what you pay for" cliche. No matter how good of a deal a third-party memory card may seem to be, it wouldn't seem so great after you put in twenty, thirty, forty hours into a game and woke up one day to find that all of your save information was gone. Problems like that with first-party memory cards are much less common.
I've just heard too many horror stories about third party cards to even think about putting one anywhere near one of my systems.
Hey, if you've used third-party cards before and have never had a problem, more power to you. Hope the good luck continues.

Incidentally--I've had my Cube and Nintendo Memory Card since launch in November, and I think I've used 15 total of the 59 blocks (three games--Star Wars, Monkey Ball, and Smash Bros.--No big memory hogs). I'm horrible at math--how long would it take me to get to 1280 blocks, anyway?
At this rate, using my rudimentary math skills, I'm guessing around forty years.

Don't be another statistic.

So in short, third party cards aren't TOO bad as long as they're not one of those Mega Memory Card types. But to be absolutely safe, I'd say bite the bullet and stick with first party.

Still at $14.99, thats $325.28
IMO, It's worth the risk to go with the Interact card, especially if you want to save a 300 block All Star Baseball 2003 franchise.

Well, these new Interact GC cards supposedly do not use any compression, which was (said to be, at least) the primary reason for failure of previous third party cards. There's actually 8 MB of uncompressed space on these cards, which should make it safer to use.
If I got one, though, I'd still back up everything important (like all the 80 hours I've put into Smash Bros) on Nintendo cards. I'd just want to have everything on one card rather than having to switch between 2 or 3, so the Interact card could be primary and I'd do a backup once or twice a month onto the Nintendo cards I have (but not things like replays, or pictures and such).

A couple important things.
I know that PGC gave it a good review, that's really a review you can sort of trust.
I mention this because lately Interact has been advertising ALOT on IGN, and since they are going broke, I think it would be fair to say that Interact could have easily bought a review from IGN.
I mean, read the review. It's a total butt kissing. That could be on it's own merits, however I do think there was some influence.
That said, I will probally be buying one.
Oh the total cost to buy Nintendo Mem cards would be much closer to 250 bucks...
16 x $15 = 240 + tax.

I already have two first party memory cards and they've served me well. Still, this 16x card is pretty damn tempting. I'll probably get one but reserve it for rental games and games I haven't played for a while, so if the data is lost it won't be such a huge loss.

I actually hate to report that the 16x card actually screwed up my Madden season data. One day, after many games in my season, I tried to load the data to start up a game, and sure enough, it was reported that the saved data could not be loaded and was most likely damaged. For some reason, I wonder if I didn't cause that somehow. I know that I didn't turn the sytem off while saving or anything, but I am the first person that I have EVER heard about having a single problem of this kind with this card. That's out of many peoples accounts of it, too. Whatever, I will continue to use it. One more problem with this particular one, and it's going back. Just too much better of a deal than the Nintendo ones, even the brand new 251 that's coming out in June.

I am going to go with the Nintendo 251 now that it has been announced. Sure, it doesn't hold as much but if the memory card fails you it's all for naught. Ironically, Planetgamecube is reporting that the new Interact 16x has problems with large files (like those in All Star Baseball 2003)...the same kinds of files you'd buy the card for!

16X is meaningless when you try to load your game and it tells you your data is corrupted. I speak from experience with Interact products. I'm waiting for the Nintendo card.
