I hate soccer but I think I might pick this up for its supposed multiplayer goodness.

I got it yesterday. It's pretty good and can get really fast and intense. There's one quibble I noticed. During multiplayer gaming my friends and I noticed that one team tended to have a really horrible goalie while the other team had a super goalie. I mean the difference was night and day. One goalie would just stand there as the ball would roll past him or he would wave his arm. The other team's goalie would be diving and rolling to make the save. More often then not it happened to be the first player's goalie that was terrible. He would make some saves but only if they were right in front of him. Did anyone else notice this or have this happen to them?

Other then that I really like the game. I wish there were more teams though, but it's still good as is.

I picked it up this week. I've never played a soccer game in my life, but this one just looked like a lot of fun. It doesn't disappoint. Haven't tried it against another person yet, but the quest mode kept me busy for a couple of hours last night. I was sad to see Sega kill the Dreamcast and bow out of the hardware business. Thank god they didn't fold altogether. Sega may not make the best-looking games, but they sure know how to make fun games like this one!

Thanks for the opinion guys.
I've read that the players run incredibly slow. Any of you guys notice this?

Not at all. The game is really good in IMO. I am a soccer fan too though, but no slowness.

I agree about NBA Street. I remember NBA Jam being better and I think Soccer Slam is more akin to that one.
