Beta testing PS2 network adaptor?
 

Did anyone else get the email from Playstation Underground saying they are asking for applicants to beta test the PS2's network adaptor?

Heck, I even checked the box saying I'd be willing to sign up for an ISP at my own cost hoping it would give me a chance to beta test FF XI.

Yep, I got the same e-mail, although I didn't check that box. I may have shot myself in the foot by doing that, but oh well. Maybe I'll just get to beta-test something else down the line. :) *crosses fingers*

Got it today. If they will send me a free adaptor and copy of FFXI I will give it a try.

Aren't they going to charge to play FFXI?

I got it as well and I checked the box that I'd be willing to shell out my own $$$ for the test. FFX is the reason I bought a PS2 so if can be a part of testing FFXI I'd gladly shell out some of my own money.

well, i got it and filled it out too. i sort of assumed that my current ISP is what i would be willing to pay for; not to sign up for a new ISP... i'm not willing to do that.

I also received it... i hope they send me a free network adaptor... that would be great...

PS2 On-Line Beta Testing anyone?
 

Anyone else get the call from SONY to Beta test the PS2 on-line games? I have yet to get the beta broadband or any games , but I did get the confirmation info. Seems like a cool opprotunity (aside from the fact that you don't even get to keep the modem!).

I am curious how big the program is slated to be. I'll post more info when available if people are interested to hear what it turns out to be.

I got the email about a week and a half ago..
Said something along the lines of "Let the beta testing begin!, You've been selected to beta test the PS2 network adapter, click this link, and enter this PSU Number: xxxxxxx"

So I'm all set right now.. Just waiting for them to contact me again (It says they'll contact me before march 22, 2002, for info on getting the stuff..)

did they actually literally call you? or did they just email you as well? I'm just hoping they didnt call, and I wasnt here :(

Also, the beta testing is 1,000 people nationwide, we'll be testing games like Frequency Online, and Twisted Metal Black: Online (And others.. (Probably SOCOM, and maybe timesplitters 2..)

I cant wait til the 22nd :)

aw man I guess that means I wasn't chosen. How did you get picked anyway? Was there a sign up or were you on the playstation mailing list? Anyway other people can get in on it ;)? I think they provide you with a PS2 HD and ethernet card for free too, which is why I really wanted to be selected. I think I'm not in their demographic thats why they didn't picked me. But 1,000 people only is very few so I guess the chances were pretty limited as well. Be sure to give us updates when it starts on how it is :)

I think to be chosen, you had to be in the PSU (PlayStation Underground (You get signed up, once you send in your card that came w/ the PS2, for a free demo disc), they emailed everyone around february 10th, said go to PSUBetaTester.com and sign up before feb. 22, and they just started emailing people a few weeks ago)

I see, thanks for the info. I've been signed up for the PSU for awhile (got a jak and Daxter demo a few months ago from them) but I guess they didn't like me even though I have a cable modem ;). Maybe I can get in the FFXI US open beta when it starts :)

I was selected and confirmed, but I have yet to receive any further info.

Just got it in the mail..

It came with 2 games on a disc. (FREQUENCY ONLINE and GAMEDAY 2002 ONLINE.)

It says we'll reciever TWISTED METAL BLACK ONLINE in 1 week, and SOCOM ONLINE in 2 weeks.)

I also got mine today but I cant seem to connect to go online anyone else having problems?

its working fine for me.. are you sure that you:

* Setup the ISP info?
* Saved it to the memory card?
* Plugged it in good?

I double checked everything but it still doest work. I get to the part where you connect after filling everythin out and it says succesful, then registartion failed.

Yeah, I ended up changing the URL of the pics, just in case I'm not supposed to be showing pictures (I still gotta read the agreement thing), I'll check on it tonight, and if it says its fine, I'll change the URL back :)

I'm very curious to see this thing. So far the only games that have me interested are Twisted Metal and SOCOM(which hopefully will rock). I heard a rumor that TimeSplitters 2 was delayed until august so that they could integrate online play. Anyone know if that's true?

Got mines too! Played some Frequency, Gameday, and Tony Hawk 3 with a bunch of strangers...
