Anyone beta testing PS2 network card?
 

I have been testing it for about three weeks, here are some thoughts:

1) The unit is pretty nice and easy to install.
2) Connecting to cable modem is easy but get it to work requires a lot of patience. It's probably because of my cable modem or ISP, sometimes it just don't want to connect: ( Haven't tried phoneline, they don't support propertery ISPs(like AOL,NetZero, etc), it needs to be a straight dial up.
3) Once connected, the response is good, well I am using cable connection.
4) Tested 4 games so far:
Twisted Medal online: good.
Some DJ game: sucks big time, impossible control and stupid game concept.
NFL 2002 online: not a football game fan, so didn't play much.
Navy seal: pretty nice team based shooter.

Overall, I think unless you are a big fan of online games and don't have a PC, it's probably not worth it. But who knows, there are always FF 11: )

Did you also read the info that came with the modem? Did you get the impression they will send us a free modem upon release, after returning the beta stuff?

I have yet to get the darn thing to work with my cable modem. How's SOCOM? Is it a FPS or 3PS? My modem connects through a dynampic ISP. I've tried all the options. The furthest I've gotten was with static ISP. It can connect, but won't register, whatever that means.

Yeah, it looks like we get to save $40, since we'll be getting the network adapter for free. Whoop-tee-do. Ain't gonna do me no good if I cannot connect. Besides, none of the games do not really interest me. Either give me puzzle games, fighting games, or baseball.

Yes, but personally, I spent most of my time playing Tony Hawk 3 online, which isn't apart of the game testing :P .

yes, the beta tester manual does state we will get a new free adapter once the beta test is over: )

As for connecting through cable modem, I don't know what's going on either. Some times it can connect, some times is doesn't. I also uses dynamic IP and no DHCP server. (Charter).
I guess the network adapter is just not configured for all ISPs yet.

Anybody here beta testing the PS2 Network Adaptor? Just seeing if anyone has any thoughts on it. I just received my packet and am getting ready to get it all setup.

Can you still get the PS2 network adapter to test? I just signed up for the Playstation Underground today..

I got mine in early March and it said it was to be returned by May 1. Then it said they would send a new adapter. Has anyone sent teh original back and recieved the new one yet?

Doubt you'll get one to keep until it is officially released.

I just received my packet, I signed up back in April I think. I believe the PS2 AOL Beta testing has just begun. I am not sure if they have any other new testing to do. My packet came with Frequency and Twisted Metal Black. And I received Tribes Aerial Assault separately.
