I think I heard that Raven will be doing the new Quake game. ID will develop the new engine and Raven will create the game around it. Raven has made some cool games in the past using ID's engines so this sounds like a great idea.

before a new quake (god Quake III was terrible considering other Multiplayer games and Quake I and II) expect a new DOOM game. 
now that is gonna rock, and it is expected to have the quake engine

Well when something is a "Extreme modified of the quake III engine(codebase)" I stand by my response.
