Wasteland
anyone remember this classic?
Fallout is considered an unofficial sequel to it
I'm going to play through it for the fun of it

You can get the whole thing (and many other classics) from www.theunderdogs.org I've d/l a bunch, but never gotten around to playing them. Anyone remember Ancient Art of War (and war at sea)? I played that soooo much back in 7th grade. Making your own maps and challenging your buds was sweet. How bout Magic Carpet.
The one game I'm really disappointed about is "Airborne Ranger". Despite being really, really old, the copyright is still on it (same with xcom), so it's unavailable. Played those a lot back in the day too.

Wasteland was a great RPG classic. I played it on an Apple IIe from way back, and actually enjoyed it more than Bard's Tale.
From what I remembered reading, Wasteland is the game that provided the inspiration to the guys (Black Isle Studio) that created the Fallout series. It's not really a sequel to Wasteland, other than sharing the same historic background of a post-nuclear holocaust in the United States. I also thought both Fallout I & II were great games.

pretty decent site
http://panther.bsc.edu/~bassaf/hqgrid/
only bad thing is the way is autosaves
might have to play the C64 version (which I own the origianl 5 1/4in floppies of) on an emulator so I can save state and not rely on the game's saves
