any good rpgs out for the pc?
it doesn't have to be too recent, just a quality game. have been away from the rpg land, and want to start again. any suggestions? oh, and i really don't feel like spending $40 + on a game, so new games like wizardry 8 is out for me.

I suggest Anachronox. It came out last summer. I got it a few weeks ago for $28. That was a bit much but I could only find the game at EB and you know what they're prices are like. Just be warned that it plays like a console RPG, turn-based battles and all. For me that was a huge plus because I hate the typical PC RPG style. You may feel differently though. Anyways, check out IGNPC's review.

I highly recommend both Baldurs Gate and Baldurs Gate 2 - both were incredible rpgs set in the D&D world. Planescape Torment was also really good - although some people didn't like the fact it was really story driven and therefore had a lot of dialogue and not as much action.

From: Bartertown due to it having a better economy than where I really live.
for a D&D type rpg you can't go wrong with either Baldur's Gate, or Icewind Dale
the Fallout series is also good, especially for $10 for 2 games

You can also pick up Planescape Torment (1999) bundled with SoulBringer (not so hot), for $10.
Planescape was a very well reviewed RPG.
The Might and Magic franchise has been revived very well in the last few years. M&M 6, 7, and 8 are all very good (as might & magic games go -- not character driven, you understand), and should be had at a reasonable price. Lots of play value.
I've heard very good things about the Fallout games, as suggested.
Baldur's Gate and the add-ons/sequels are very good.
Icewind Dale is decent.
Stay away from Pool of Radiance.
