Maximo possibly coming to the Gamecube (and maybe X-box)
From Page 122 of the newest EGM with Maximo on the Cover.
I hope this pans out. Maximo is the first game on the PS2 or X-box that I'm absolutely dying to play. The old school game play, linear levels, etc. have me drooling. It should be a refreshing chage from most of the games today that consist of wandering around in large 3D environments in open-ended games. I much prefer just fighting my way through a level, as opposed to wandering around trying to find something or figure out where to go next. I'll pick up Maximo in a second if it comes out on the Gamecube. I think it's pretty likely, with it's aforementioned all-ages appeal and Capcom's great relationship with Nintendo. Plus it would make more business sense than only porting it to the X-box as the Gamecube would allow them to sell to a different audience. They've already hit up a large portion of the older audience by releasing it on the PS2, a Gamecube release will allow them to sell it to the younger crowd. Putting it on the X-box will just give them the small audience of older gamers that only have an X-box. I say if it sells well on the PS2, it will come next to the Gamecube, and if it does well there then it will come to the X-box. If it doesn't come to the Gamecube I guess I'll just wait for the PS2 to drop to $199 or lower before playing it.
"Capcom is also mulling over bringing Maximo to other platforms. When we point out to Producer Mark Rogers that the game's all-ages appeal would fit well on the Gamecube, he says, 'You're not the first person to say that. A few people from Nintendo have said that, too.'"
