How To Get a Japanese Controller for your X-Box

Do you know? Cuz I have no idea... I've searched around and couldn't even find anything other than photos or press releases. Anybody selling these besides on ebay? If there's a thread for this already, moderator - feel free to delete. I'll keep looking for info and I'll post if I find any - just thought someone might know something.

As far as I know the only ones available right now are the ones that the Dev houses have to test with.

I would imagine that some might become available shortly after the Japanese launch of the Xbox.

It's also being rumored that they will eventually be released over here too, so people will have a first-party alternative to the U.S. controller that is very much a love/hate piece of hardware.

I hope they release the Japanese controller over here, and then you won't have to pay extra for the import. I think the Japanese controller is much better ("It’ll be smaller and more efficient"- Marge Simpson).

Also, when XBOX is out in Japan, I think it's February 22, places like EB and Planet X will carry these.

I just hope they don't charge anything extra. As it is, $40 for an extra controller is not competitive.

The button layout of the Japanese controller REALLY bothers me. The black and white buttons are in a really bad location and are not functionable as normal buttons based on that design. That design is based on the idea that the black and white buttons won't be during immediate play which isn't the case for some games. Off the top of my head, I know Spider-Man is really awkward with it because of the poor button layout design. I like the size and everything, just the black and white buttons are worse than the US version. I think I'd rather stick with the US pad for functionality.

Just looking at it, I can tell you for sure that DOA3 will be a lot tougher with this controller.

In a duplicate thread:
I picked mine up from therage.com for 44 bucks. They ran out of stock but said mine will ship out on the 5th.

Don't, they announced a US version with a longer cord and subtle differences. Should be cheaper than getting it in Japan too.

I read that Japanese X-Box controllers won't work on US consoles as part a new kind of territorial lock out (kind of like what happened with the Dreamcast Light guns that wouldn't work on the US console).

Edit: whoops, its the other way around nevermind I read it incorrectly.
