Does anyone remember DUNGEON MASTER
I was thinking with all these new games coming out on multi-gigabyte DVDs, it is amazing that the best game (in my humble opinion) that I have played to this date was Dungeon Master which came on a single floppy disk, complete with multiple 3-d levels, many many monsters, and eerie sound effects. I wish I can go back to those days when I would spend many sleepless nights on my Amiga playing this amazing game!
Sorry for sharing my memory, but I am still amazed at how they fit that huge game on that tiny 3.5" diskette (720kb!)

I'll never forget Dungeon Master. It was the first computer game that ever just took over my life. I even found myself dreaming about it. Encountering that huge dragon near the end was quite a shock!
I played that game for about 3 months straight on my Amiga (500?), sometimes staying up as late as 3 a.m. even though I had to go to work in the morning. My room-mates at the time would complain about all the odd sounds emanating from my room late at night.
As you say, great sound effects, and tons of 3D levels all on a floppy disk.
Unfortunately, the PC sequel a few years back was pretty ugly. But the original DM was the first "dungeon crawl" game I had ever played, and I will also always have fond memories of it.

My friend had Dungeon Master for his Amiga, and it was good but it can't hold a candle to the original Wizardy on the good ole Apple IIe
Reminds me, Wizardry 8 finally came out.. anyone try it yet?

I remeber Moria. What a riveting game. Far more thrilling than modern dungeon crawlers. The thing about it was that your guy had only one life to live, so you would always play for weeks to get a weak mage into a formidable level 12 guy, then eventually turn a corner, fall down a pit that goes down 16 levles into the lair of a capital D. Game over. No resurrects or loading.
