I thought it was a great game, if you liked it on your dc (2K1) then you'll probebly like this one. Although I did play the DC version of NBA 2K2 and there did not seem to be much improvement on the PS2 one? So if you still have your DC, maybe you should buy it for $29.99, for a DC copy. Here's what IGN gave it:

Presentation
Great menus, excellent attention to detail and lots of modes. 9.0
Graphics
The arenas and animation are great, player models are good, and faces are alright. Coach models could use some work. 8.0
Sound
Good ambient sounds, but the commentary could be snappier. 8.5
Gameplay
The game play is great: good control and good "feel", but defensive AI and difficulty needs to be tweaked. 8.5
Lasting Appeal
With Season, Franchise, Exhibition and Street modes, this game will have you loving long time. 9.0
OVERALL SCORE (not an average)
8.6

Damn, that was why I didn't like NBA2K1. The defensive AI was sucky. Rather than having players move clearly infront of you to stop your drive, you'd just run into an invisble wall when you were clearly trying to drive beside the defender.

That and the fast breaks was supposed to be improved on the PS2 version. Hope Visual Concepts wasn't exagerating in their interview about the game.

The video review that gamespot has set up is awesome and definitely worth the 8 minutes it takes to watch it. This game has Season, and Franchise modes including rookie drafts and free agency. I am sold.

If not, maybe it will be fixed for the Gamecube version, which is the one I'm interested in. It doesn't come out until March, so they have some time to tweak it. If not I'll pass on it and wait and see if next years 2K3 or new Courtside is better. I might pick up NBA Street and bide my time with some arcade b-ball though.
