Original MGS

I just finished MGS2 the other day, and I really enjoyed it. I never owned a PS1, so I never had a chance to play the first. Well, my question is, for those of you who have played both, is the original worth picking up? I know it’s going to look terrible when compared, and I’m sure it would be hard to get used to… but what do you think? It’s not like it would be all that big a deal considering it’s only $20… but I'd still like some opinions before I do anything. $20 is $20, after all. …

It is worth picking up especially at the discounted price at this time. Just do not expect Playstation 2 type graphics as far as the in-game graphics are concerned. The cinemas are awesome!!! Great gameplay.....buy it.

Another option, if you have a Dreamcast, is to buy MGS and the bleemcast disc for it - played on the DC, it looks quite a bit better.

Well, I was at the mall, so I picked it up. It's certainly no MGS2 (and I certainly didn’t expect it to be), but it's pretty neat. I'm sure it looked really good at the time it first came out. I just have to get used to it.
The only problem is, it's saying that I have no memory card inserted, when I actually do. Do you have to have a PS1 memory card to save this thing? If so, that kind of sucks...

Yea, you need a PS1 memory card to save PS1 games. MGS I think has an infinitely better story than MGS2. I'd love to see MGS redone with the graphics and gameplay improvements of 2. I love 2 but I still think 1 was a better story(plus I love the music that plays when you get spotted or are fighting a boss).

What about the PC version? Would the graphics be better or exactly the same as the PS1 version?

I have the PC version. It only works in D3D, I think. I haven't seen the PS1 version to compare.

It's (MGS PC version, with box) forsale cheap if anyone is interested.
