GTA3 Question

OK, I just got to the second island, but I forgot to do the missions at the dog food factory phone. It isn't ringing anymore.

My question is, did I just miss out on these missions completely? Or can I go back and pick them up at a later time? Are there other things that are open at one point in the game and closed later on?

I really hate things like this, where if you miss something you can never go back and pick it up, but I'd rather know now and restart than to get all the way through and then realize I've missed something.

You may still be able to do it, but I am not 100% sure.

You have to go during the daytime, possibly between certain hours. Make sure to go during the daytime though. It doesn't ring at night.

Yeah I think you can because I have gone back to try and beat that damn_el burro race but it is very hard to go back to Portland because the mafia and the Triads will attack you everytime they see you.

And this is also why I suggest getting all the hidden packages as early into the game as possible, if that aspect of the game is important to you.

After I beat the game, I got a guide to the locations of the hidden packages (since I only collected about half on my own!) and went back to get them. Some of them (like the one on top of the gas station in Portland) I just cannot get because the Mafia has it out for me big time.

I just beat "The Exchange" mission and the credits started running. Does that mean the game is over? I've only completed 57 missions out of 73 and I don't know where to go for them. Can anybody tell me?

After the credits, it puts you back on the street. You can even go get the tank at the armory!

Been playing and loving this game... I dont think I'm that far into it... right now I'm trying to do the mission where you need to get the "evidence" for Ray, by chasing that truck around Staunton Island and ramming it.

I've seen a lot of people bitching about that race... if you can get ahead of the other racers, it's pretty easy, if you can drive cleanly. I beat the thing with a taxi cab, which I admit is fairly quick

HELP!!!

I am on the mission where you are to chase and destroy the surveilance boat but when I get on the police boat I can NEVER find the guys I'm looking for I try to follow the green dots but I get blocked by the walls or that long pipe in the water. Is this a bug/defect or something? I have been stuck here for three days.

Not sure what to say here... I was able to get into the police boat soon enough that I could keep the other boat well within sight the whole time. Unfortunately I couldnt blow it up with the police boat so I eventually ended up chasing the guys down by car and on foot. It was quite fun. They end up going to the Portland dock BTW, then drive around in a car.

I'm stuck on the mission where you are supposed to blow up a boat that has a drug lab on it (portland.) What am i supposed to do? The only map clue you are giving is the bomb shop where you can get a car bomb. What am i supposed to do?

but I forgot to do the missions at the dog food factory phone. It isn't ringing anymore.
Is this in Portland? If so, where? The only ringing phones i've found ar the Turismo race and the one dude where you pick people up then get rid of the car.

Thanks
Jay

The second one you mention is the Dog Food guy.

Thats the dog food one.. One of the missions makes reference that the dog food company is going to get a new flavor that day.

You pick up 8 ball and you go to the pier. he'll get out of the car and approach the boat. He says he'll wait till you fire the first shot. there is a building facing the boat with a staircase. Climb the stiar case to the first level or go up to the roof... Take aim at the 2 men standing next to the boat ramp. use your sniper rifle to pick them off. Then get the two men at the top of the ramp. The rext of the men seem to come from random places. You have to take them out ASAP or 8ball will get scratched... It'll take a couple of times doing this to get it to work right, but eventually you'll get it.

You can still do the dog food missions and the El burro missions but once you go to the second island if you have not finished the missions for the mafia people then you cannot do them I had that problem and had to start way back near the beginning it sucked

Yeah, I went back and picked up the dog food missions.. I didn't realize that the phone only rang during certain times of the time. Also got the hidden jumps, which I find fun, the Emergency Vehicle Crane, the Import/Export Garage, the hidden packages, the vigilante missions, the firefighter missions and the taxi missions, not to mention all the "people" missions.

I don't think I'm going to get all the stuff throughout the whole game. I'll do the hidden jumps, not for the money (what do I need it for?), but because I think they are fun. I'll probably do the EV crane/Import Export Garage, etc, becuase I don't mind it, and I can see the cars being very useful.

I'll probably do the vigilante missions. I like them, and the police bribes at the hideout are nice.

I'll do the fire truck too, because they aren't hard and I want the flame thrower.

Hidden packages? Maybe after I finish the whole game and want an extra challenge. Not enough reward for what it takes to get them.

Ditto the Ambulance missions. Since you can infinite run
Spoiler:
by tapping run instead of holding it
, there's not much point. Besides, my guy can already run pretty far normally as it is.

Any suggestions on how to go back to the Mafia areas of Portland without getting killed instantly. (I'm on the third city)
I waited too long to do the Auto Theft missions so I want to use the Firetruck in Portland (which is the only way to find the Mr. Whoopee truck again) but as soon as I pull out of the firehouse, bam! Wasted. It drives me nuts.
I don't mind them shooting at me but those one shot kills are ridiculous.
How the hell do they know its me in the Firetruck?
Doug

Does the gate to the stadium ever open? I'm curious cause I'd like to go inside, and so far all the techniques I've tried to jump it have failed... I've gotten close though...

Sorry. There's no way to get in there that I've found. Kind of sucks too because that would be really cool if you get in there and mess up more stuff.

On a different topic. What vehicle is everyone's favorite? I have a soft spot for the convertible Stinger. I hate it when I trash one. But that's the beauty of the game, just go find another one.

I"m still trying to get in the stadium. I'm thinking if I pile up a bunch of cars and use it as a ramp, or just jump from car to car, I might can get over the gate. It would take a bit of luck, but I think you could get in there. You should also be able to fly the Dodo in there too, I'm thinking (or is it a dome?). I just wonder, once you get in, how do you get out again?

My favorite car is probably the Banshee. I like the way it almost looks like a Viper, and is one of the fastest, best handling cars in the game. If I'm going off-road, give me a Patriot. If I'm going to just trash the town, I like using the tank.

By the way, the stadium, near the gate, is a good place to fight the cops. Most of the cop cars won't come up the steps, and it's a long way to walk up. You can usually cap the officers before they get too close (and after a while, they won't even leave their cars), and if a car does decide to come up the steps, a few M-16 rounds or a rocket will take care of it fast enough. Park the tank up there for some real fun.

My favorite car(s) are the Banshee/Police car when I'm in a hurry I like to turn on the siren and make the traffic move out of the way. The Mafia car or the Yardi Lobo doing drive bys and running people over in them is just so bad ass to me. But when it's time to tear shyt up the Army flatbed or the police swat truck. I haven't made the Army show up yet to get the tank.

Every once in a while, I'll save my game and then cheat to get a whole army full of tanks and just wreak havok on the town. I'm wondering if you can kill all the cops like you can in GTA 1 -- which is fun because there's no consquences to your actions anymore. I've gotten to the point where the police stop showing up, but I've not been able to exterminate the FBI guys.

I went overboard with the tank cheat once. I got about 12 of them and completely blocked the road for the Diablo race I destroyed 2 but one remained I still failed the mission but afterwards there were NO cars drive down the street anymore for me to jack I had to either drive the tank or find a parked car

I havent opened the 3rd island yet, but I've found on the 2nd island, the elevated walkways around the casino make good points to waste people with the rocket launcher... you can get all sorts of law enforcement to show up. This is how I eventually jacked the FBI Car (which other than looking kind of cool isnt that great... it doesnt handle very well)

My favorite car is the Banshee. A close tie for second are the Infernus and the Cheetah. Those look sweet
