Ace Combat 4:Fun but Frustrating

I picked up Ace Combat 4 for PS2 last night. So far, I really enjoy it. Great Great graphics, sound, and good control(although I wish the cockpit view with the panels wasn't as crowded). However, I'm stuck on the Invincle Fleet mission. I just keep running out of time. You have 15 minutes to get 3000pts in kills and I just can't do it. Any advice other than going for the 120pt ships first? I'm using the F-16 if that matters(I've got the F-5 and F-4 in addition to the F-16). Any tips for this mission?

I forget exactly how I did this, but go for the big ships first, and use the scatter bombs a lot when you get over a large group of things, you can do more damage

I got some tips for ya that WILL help :-0

Ok as as soon as you start the mission keep flying straight...as you approach the city slow down and veer towards the right(near the start of the bridge) slightly...start taking out the fleet that are stationed along the harbor(I usually hit most of the targets on the first run along the harbor an need a quick sweep to finish the ships off)....

AFTER you do this RETURN to where you started the mission out..right before you return to base there are a bunch of ships and an air craft carrier clustered together in the water...take those out...return to base and re-load and REPAIR your damage(you should need it by now)...by now you should have about 2300 points or so with only a few hundred to go to get to the goal...so take out anything you want(if you successfully do the above you will have more han 10 minutes to get around 600-700 points, which is a cake walk..have fun taking them out!)

SOME QUICK IMPORTANT FINAL POINTERS:
1)Pay attention to time BUT DONT PANIC...you actually have more than enough time to do the mission

2)Don't waste your time with bombing any planes...it's a huge waste of time to dog fight and chase...the ships and fuel tanks are worth more..concentrate on those...

3)Enjoy it cuz the missions after are a real doozy(but equally fun)

ACE COMBAT

I also wanted to add that I love the game and it's the first air combat type game I have ever played..the repeat value on this for me is tremendous and everything bout the game rocks...

final notes

For the fleet mission I used the the plane that you start out with...nothing fancier is needed to complete the mission...and i got frustrated too..i spent 4 hours on that level, but it's fun

Yea thanks for the replies. I was able to beat the mission after a few tries using the strategy you posted. I used the F4 as it seemed to have better defensive ratings than the F16 and I was able to finally beat the mission. I'm now on the one where you have to support the ground assault during the thunderstorm. What an amazing game this is. Thanks for all the suggestions!
