quick ps2 dvd question

since this could fit in either dvdtalk or the video game forum, I put it in Other so hopefully it can get answered quickly and die.

we're trying to play dvds on my roommates ps2 (shrek and pota) but the macrovision comes on every few seconds, anyone know why?

I don't want to be one of those "Wrong forum! Wrong forum!" guys, but people in the video game or hardware forum might be able to answer your question quicker. I'm sure someone in the Other get get it eventually, though.

are you using a 3rd party video cable? I had a problem with an interact S-video cable where the video would cut out on dvd movies. As soon as I tried the sony composite cable the problem went away. Needless to say I returned the interact s-video cable and picked up the official sony one and have had no problems.

Shrek played fine on my PS2. POTA has some problems with a lot of players inc PS2 but nothing Macrovision related ( there is a thread on this in the DVDtalk section ).

My ps2 is connected to my tv through the standard cable that came with it and I get no macrovision problems, maybe its a fault with the PS2 .

Maybe see if there is a new driver available ? Im using the one that came with the remote control ( 2.1 i think )

my other roommate's ps2 played it fine so i'm thinking its the drivers. are the new drivers available for free? its kinda lame to force people to buy the addon to get the drivers
