You get games and a controller, it isn't just the X-Box. Plus many people have hundreds of dollars of gift certificates to use there like me for example.

I don't think this is much of a bargain, considering that you could buy everything separately for less than $499 (I think).
However, I don't think the Xbox is being sold separately at this point, so if you really want an Xbox, you might as well go ahead and take the plunge with this bundle....
Thanks for the heads-up Jazzy Hunter.

Associate: "Can we sell XBox's separately?"
Assoc. Mgr: "Nope."
Mgr (overhearing): "Yes, we can. Go ahead and sell it separately."
This was at the CC near me in Ann Arbor, MI.

I was told that Circuit City would only be selling bundles at least thru the holidays. This was form a manager at a Houston area store. I went to pick up an Xbox on launch day there, but didn;t since al they had were bundles w/controller and NFL Fever and PGR(neither game being one that I wanted).
The kicker was that if you bought the bundle, you could not return part of it because it was rung a s 1 item. So, I wandered into Kmart and bought one of 2 they literlally just took of the truck.

What's funny is that when you go into the used section, people are inflating prices. One guy is trying to sell his (XBOX alone) for $1200, when you can go to the main page and buy from a reputable website for much less.

Here in SoCal both Xbox and GameCube are fairly easy to find. If you spent some time calling you can easily locate one and then pick it up.
MS is really doing a good job keeping the channel filled.

It's difficult to find an XBOX in L.A. But if Microsoft is keeping to their plan, stores will be restocked weekly.

Check around, all the stores are getting them in on a regular basis (Depending on the store).. Also, go into the store, don't bother calling.. I was looking for one this week and had no luck at Best Buy or Target or Babbages (but they did say they would hold one if I called when it came in).... then I walked into Toys R Us and they had some sitting on the shelf and in boxes.. (boxes marked with the big orange street date tags..hmmmmm)..
Anyway, point is I got on the first day I went looking, I got lucky, but it can be done.
Avoid EB or amazon, they are only selling bundles and unless you want all those games and crap it's not worth it.. At least with the Gamecube bundles they let you pick the games.

I work for Best Buy and we quite a few xbox's and gamecubes sitting in the warehouse where I work at. The manager doesn't want to sell them due to ppl not buying the accessories and we dont' make money on the consoles. Dont't ask me how them sitting there will get them to buy accessories....
