I know it's only been out a few days but I'm just wondering if any of you new xbox owners have encountered any problems with the xbox system??

I'm thinking seriously about having one shipped over to me but I wouldn't have any kind of tech support here in Israel. And it's not like I could just run on over the Best Buy and swap it for another one! But if that's the only problem I think I can handle that

well if they're holding up OK I think I'll have two shipped over. "Why two?" you ask, well there have only been three brought into the country that I know of. I'm friends with the store owner who sold each one for $1100
Yes that's eleven hundred U.S. dollars EACH. If I can get two I will sell one and keep the other for myself = free xbox for me
Of course, things never go according to plan and I'll probably be one of those poor suckers on ebay taking a loss....

The buttons on the controller have made my right thumb very sore but other then that it's excellent. If you have have a home theater and a decent tv their is no other choice of consoles right now.

Well the only problem I have is that I suck at that 4x4 truck racing game. Other than that everything is excellent. Beat Halo on easy with a friend. Also played Halo in multyplayer. Have to say the sniper rigfle is awesome, nice head shots.

Truthfully, I have had no problems at all which surprises me quite a bit. I've ripped a ton of music to it; not to mention played it a good bit. The controller button was rough on my thumb when playing Tony Hawk, but I think that's past me now, and my thumb is good to go. I'm not going to lie... I was skeptical. I expected some freezes now and then (like Playstation/Dreamcast regularity), perhaps some skips, or just about anything, but I have had zero problems. Wait... I can think of two things. One time it wouldn't rip from a disc on the first try, but then it did the second time through. The other problem was with the DVD capability, but I've since found out that it was the disc, as it didn't work well in either of the two other DVD players I put it in. It would go back to the menu when fast forwarding at 32x... it hasn't done that for any other discs though (and I have since tried it on quite a few).
As a whole, I have been very pleased with both GC and XBox QC at launch. Good to see that they both did their homework. I'm sure that problems occurred for both, as with any electronic product, but have heard of no widespread problems.

I have had one minor problem- NHL Hitz Broke up on me and froze once. That's all. More than I can say for my Dreamcast in it's day. Anyways, Hitz froze in the player creation screen for me, which I chalk up to loose programming in that end, because really, I don't think Midway and Blackbox designed the game to be heavy sim with player creation...
So nothing really. The Xbox is quite a piece of work, which I had faith in from the start, but still suprised me in the end. It's fast, quiet, and smooth. The system runs nice and cool, the HardDrive is swift, and Overall, I'm VERY happy with my purchase. Now If I could just afford another game...

I have a huge problem with the XBox. It's $300 and my team just decided to dominate this year and go to the Orange Bowl so now I have to save up for that trip!

First off, I am VERY encouraged! I have definitely had my share of freeze up problems on the DC (particularly SoA). So I guess I was expecting to hear of some glitches but so far only one.
Let me take the question a step further.... to each of you that posted (and to any others that might offer some input here), approx. how many total gaming hours have you put on the xbox system? And what is the longest running streak without turning it off??

The longest I've played was a 12 hour non-stop stretch of Halo. With a friend of course. We were determined to beat it. Unfortunatly, I was getting a headache at 3:30 in the morning and needed sleep. So it wasn't until the next day that we beat it. Had no problems at all.

Well, I never owned a PS2 or DC and I have had a couple problems. First, at times when I put in the disc the screen will say something like cannot read disc. And there was not any dust on it, etc. Also, during HALO is would pause/freeze during certain checkpoints. Is that normal. I thought the level preloaded to the HD first. I am wondering if I should contact MS sooner than later. BTW I have not completed HALOyet. I am savoring it. I have 2 co-op games and a single player mission going all on Heroic.

I've put in a solid 50+ hours on my Xbox thus far, between Hitz, THPS2X, and ripping songs...nothing except the hitz freeze once. And now that I bought Amped, I'm sure I'll be putting more hours in, and then when NHL2002 drops, I won't even have time to be on this board
. It's a solid system, and there will be a few bad ones out there, as with any consumer electronics hardware (hitachi dvd players!). I haven't heard much though, so I'd say that the quality control on the XBOX has been stellar thus far.

I haven't had any freezing problems or game problems, but I have had controller problems. I bought two other controllers made by third parties and they both react strangely with the XBox. One is by Interact and that controller will suddenly screw up during a game (especially Halo) and I will get a message that says "Controller disconnected, waiting for controller, press Start" even though the controller is still connected. And my Madcatz controller will constantly rumble during Fusion Frenzy. These are small problems that I'm having, but it's better than paying $40 for an official Xbox controller.

Simpsons Road Rage froze up on me a number of times, but fortunately it was a rental so I took it back and got Amped. Some people at teamxbox.com have said that the stickers on the blockbuster games (where I got mine), unbalance the disks and cause it to freeze more often. Could be, although I haven't had any issues with Amped at all.

It sounds real familiar! I think he's talking about the load times. Not having a PSX or DC he probally didnt realize what a huge step up a minor pause is compared to the loads on other consoles.
