I'm waiting to get an X-Box. I've already got my Gamecube(shameless showing off... teehee ), cause I really wanted Rogue Leader, Wave Race and Smash Bros. Hell even Pikmin sounds interesting.

I would have gotten X-Box today had they had more must have releases for me. So far Halo is the only game I really want. I may get it once I get all my Xmas shopping out of the way or whenever Jet Grind Radio Future and Shenmue II come out.

I'm waiting for both the Xbox and PS2.

The question for me is the Gamecube. I am still going back and forth on it. I really want Rogue Leader and Wave Race.

My problem is I still plan on getting Arc the Lad for the PSX and Breath of Fire and a few other games for the GBA. I really don't need a new system right now.

I just bought NBA2K2 and NFL2K2 for the Dreamcast and Golden Sun for the GBA. I have plenty of games to keep me busy for awhile.

I will probably not decide until Saturday Night on the Gamecube.

I'm very happy with my Dreamcast right now.

I might buy a GameCube when the price drops to $100 or so.

I'm waiting till EB stops the XBOX bundle rapes so I can use my $70 in mall giftcertificates to get the console for $230.

Right now the only title I want to play is DOA3 anyway. I see the xbox game releases are still void of any kickass RPG's like Final Fantasy though....

Hummm.. lets see what games I see...WWF,Snowboarding,skateboarding, and more snowboarding.. I see a pattern here...lol

I really like Star Wars, and so part of me wants to rush out and buy the GC, but I'm not sure yet. I'm waiting until more good games come out that I'm interested in, and 'til I get some stuff paid off. Then I'll think more seriously about it. Hopefully Blockbuster will have some of these systems for rent over Christmas break... I'd at least like to try Rogue Leader out.

Resisting $200 impulse buy good!

I'm waiting for racing, wrestling, baseball and girlie games to come out for the X-Box and GameCube. I know each system as at least one of each already, but I'd rather wait until I see something else. Bsides, I just purchased the PS2 last week, and I have all the other systems, so I'm sure I can wait to see what games are available between now and the end of the year.

That's another reason I'm holding off... there are so many good PS2 games out right now, or coming out next week (MGS2 & 007... woo hoo!). I can keep myself plenty entertained with the PS2 for a long while, I'm thinking. Although Rogue Leader still calls to me...

I hear ya. I say I'm going to hold off, but that Gamecube at $200 is very attractive. I just know I'm gonna impulse buy that sucker before I intended to.

I'm waiting as well. Both the X-Box and GameCube have to show me other games that I would be interested in. Currently there is 1 game for both I would definitely want...Halo and Rouge Squadron II.

Chances are I will buy a GameCube in 2002 if the Mario, Zelda or Metroid games look like they may come out during the year. The X-Box is still in limbo with me right now. Halo is great, but it is not worth the $350 I'd have to put down for it at this time. I may rent an X-Box to see how it looks and sounds at my house, that may sway me as well.

So, I'll just sit with my PS2 and my dying DC. I have enough PS2 games to keep me busy for the moment with more to come through at least February (Smackdown 3, FFX, Maximo, Jak and Daxter, etc.).

I always wait for a few reasons

1) we are forced to wait anyway in Australia, releases are usually 6 months - a year behind!

2) i like to see how the consoles go in the US and Japan so i know i'm not buying the 'loser'

3) Most importantly i like to see what the 'pirating' situation is, yes i'm a cheapskate ! i just can't afford many games and i get bored of games easily so i need heaps to keep me happy! I recently got a Dreamcast and my game collection is rising daily ! With the Neo 4 chip for the PS2, a mate having a dvd burner and games appearing on the net, i might get a PS2 this xmas

Disclaimer - i don't advocate piracy for others, please don't think i'm encouraging you to pirate. You should all be good girls and boys. I just advocate it for me (yes i'm a bloody hypocrite but in this case damm proud of it)

Now that I think about it, I've waited until the $100 price point for all three of my game systems: PSX, N64, and Dreamcast.

By waiting, not only do you pay less $$, but more games are available and the games are cheaper as well.

I still have plenty of gaming left in my N64 and Dreamcast, so what's the big damn hurry?

Plus I have countless other sources of amusement.

Seems like people think they are missing out on something by not buying these things right away, but if the games are truly good, they will still be good a year or more from now. Why buy into the hype and get raped? Are you a person or a tool?

Word!
For me, it almost came down to a coin flip before I decided on a PSX over a Saturn (lucky break, there). I'm real happy with my PS2, and I have enough games right now to last me a year at least (haven't even unwrapped THPS3 yet ). A year from now we'll see how the GC and Xbox stack up and maybe I'll plunk down a chunk o' change for a nice Christmas '02 present to myself

I'm waiting for several reasons.

First off, GTA3 on the PS2 is keeping me PLENTY busy. It's probably hands-down the most fun I've had with a game, EVER. I'm just so into it that everything else is kinda just passing by like a blur. Any money I want to put into video gaming is for more PS2 games I'd like to get (Ace Combat 4, Baldur's Gate, and several others) so I'm not even looking at another console right now.

Second, while I'd like to get an Xbox and Gamecube someday, there's just nothing available for those systems that is making it a must-have right now. Halo on Xbox and the Star Wars game on Gamecube are the closest to that, but not enough to justify dropping several hundred bucks.

Finally, I'll probably wait a bit longer to see how Xbox does. Having been burned with the likes of 3DO, Jaguar, Saturn, and Dreamcast, I've finally learned my lesson. I think I'll take a wait-and-see approach to Xbox. I hope it succeeds, though--it's got some very impressive specs. But it's all about the games...

I'm waiting for a number of reasons. I haven't been playing console games too much lately (although I play Madden 2002 on my PS pretty often). I don't know if I'm growing out of videogames or not....in fact, I have a number of PS games that I bought that I've never even played (Resident Evil 2 and Final Fantasy VIII)! Heck, I haven't even finished Final Fantasy VII! I even have a PC game that I haven't even played yet (C&C: Red Alert 2). No flames please. I'll probably play some this holiday season since my girlfriend is gonna be gone for two weeks and I'll be home by myself.

Anyway, I'm a rabid Sony fan. Most of the electronic equipment in my condo is Sony (2 Sony TVs, VCR, DVD player, sub, speakers, receiver, alarm clock, etc.). However, I never bought the PS2 because I was excited about the specs of the Xbox. Although there are some games that I would love to play on the PS2 (Final Fantasy series and Gran Turismo series), I just can't get over the fact that the hardware of the Xbox is about 2 times better than the PS2 (strictly numbers-wise). So even though the Xbox doesn't really have any games that interest me yet, I still plan on buying it....but after some games come out that I like.

Moreover, I am expecting or hoping for some kind of price break eventually...and since I'm not in any rush to go and buy any of the consoles (I don't think I would ever buy the Gamecube because like many have indicated, the games seem a bit more juvenile compared to games of the other consoles), I can afford to sit on the sidelines and wait. I'm willing to wait as long as I need to before there is some sort of price break and/or a game that I feel like I really want to play.

Very very true. Congrats for that post. It's the way I feel. The games aren't going anywhere!

I see your point, but I wonder how long it will take for the GC or X-Box to drop to that point? PS2's been around for a year, and still no price drop. Yes, by waiting, you pay less... but you pay extra to play right away, rather than waiting. Not EVERYONE has an N64 and a Dreamcast, ya know. Of course, I have a PS2, and all these used PS1 games that I bought used when I got my PS2 but haven't touched yet. So I'm in the same boat, sorta. When I go home for Christmas, I will have a Blockbuster about 1 minute away from my house, and I really hope they have a GC to rent.

Fire bad!

I'm waiting------to 12:01 tomorrow night, because no one will sell me a Gamecube before then.

To be serious, I'm waiting to see what happens with PS2 and X-box before buying either. Plus, I graduate college in May, so I want to wait and see if I'll have more free time than I do now. I currently don't have enought time to keep up with all the games I want to play on one system with school and work.

If I go to grad school I'll probably be even busier, but if I just get a job, I should have more free time since I won't be going to class, work, and then coming home and studying.

In that case, it will require a price drop and a much better library of exclusive games to get me to buy a PS2 or X-box.

Right now on PS2 I'd like to have Devil May Cry and GT3 out of their exclusives, and Halo is the only X-box exclusive that interests me. Neither of these is worth $300 IMO, but I'm sure the line-ups will improve though. I also hate the x-box controller so I'd have to find a good third party one before buying a system.
