Anyone else suddenly receive an IGN membership confirmation??

One of my porn-spam-trapper email accounts just received a confirmation from IGN & Snowball networks about my membership being confirmed. What's up with that? I signed up to receive their updates several years ago but haven't signed in to IGN in a long time. But today it gave me a password that's different from what I used to use. Has anyone else received a similar message? Or did someone try to sign me up to piss me off?

I actually get the same thing sometimes... I've probably received about 5 of them in the past 6 months or so. I tried the ID and password they gave me once, and it didn't even work. I have no idea why they keep sending me these confirmations, but apparently they're really screwed up.

IGN is switching to a subscriber base, and they are sending out spam to try to increase their base. They are promoting a new "magazine", but it only seems to have one edition.

Not good marketing, in my view.

I'm still waiting for something good to show up in their newsletter.

I've gotten these spam emails from them at least three times. The first two times I followed their unsubscribe instructions, since I thought of them as legitimate emails, but they are really just spam and unsubscribing means you are more likely to get more spam in the future.

Despicable. They've totally lost my respect, and I wish they'd just hurry up and go under as they keep threatening. Their editorial quality has sucked for the past couple of years anyway.
