are you buying Rogue Squadron Early?

well it should be out today or tommorow in stores.

I am considering buying it early but if I am unlucky enough to not get a gamecube at launch , I will be one very bitter person.

what are you guys doing?

I thought about doing a pre order on this game a while back at TRU, but I figure there has to be alot of games available at the release. And, I could not stand to torture myself by looking at that damn game for a week and not being able to play it.

I picked it up early just to see if it was backwards-compatable with my record player. It wasn't.

Do most stores have this on the shelves yet?

If so, are there are lot of them in stock at most stores? I may go and pick it up myself tomorrow

I have to talk to the manager of the store I'm buying my Cube at. If I"m guaranteed to get one on launch day, I'll pick up Rogue anda memory card tomorrow. Just to split the $$ up.

No

I'm so indecisive. I didn't want a Cube at first, then I saw screenshots of Rogue Squadron and ordered one from bestbuy.com. I changed my mind again and cancelled the order. Now, I want one again.

I bought a couple of PS2 games early last year, but only because my system was paid for and I knew that I was getting it on launch day.

I don't think it's going to be hard to score a gamecube when it launches, but I won't pick up this game until I have the system in my hands.

I picked it up early. I've also already beat it. =) I just need to open up the extra missions now.

I got an interesting email from Bestbuy.com (where I preordered Rogue Squadron along with Gamecube as part of their 'build your own bundle' package). They stated that the title was on backorder along with the usual spiel about shipping it when they get in stock, yadda yadda yadda. This means one of 3 things:

a) This is a true backorder and Lucasarts didn't get them the games in time.

b) Bestbuy isn't shipping Rogue Squadron until they ship out the Gamecubes.

c) Bestbuy accepted more preorders for Rogue Squadron than they ended up getting in stock.

I just hope it isn't (c) and the same thing doesn't happen with the cubes themselves. I hate to learn that I preordered so I could get the console by Christmas only to get it in a few months.

Guess I'll be camping out at TRU after all...just to be sure.

I picked it up yesterday, put a switch into my Japanese GameCube, and played it until 3am.

Graphics are amazing, and the sound is incredible!
Surround sound during gameplay, with the sound of TIE fighters circling the room, AT-ATs thumping the ground. Too cool.

So far, the story and level sequence follow the movies pretty closely. Lots of movie dialog, duplicated camera angles from the films, video clips from the movies as gameplay background.
You also get to play as Luke, none of the Dash Rendar crap.

Controls, medals / goals, level structure, etc. are almost identical to the N64 Rogue Squadron. But the presentation makes a huge difference.

The only gripes I have are that the radar is confusing, and memory cards have to be formatted for either U.S. or Japanese games. Can't save games from both countries on the same memory card.

Yes. Kenwood VR-509.

Also, the game has a surround sound test, where a TIE fighter flies in circles and buzzes around the room. Makes a neat little demo...

Dude, you were just telling me you couldn't afford your Toys 'R Us pre-orders... but you can afford a whole new system and a game?! I know... I want Rogue Squadron, too, though. I'll probably rent it over Christmas or something.

Fire bad!
