Your not alone, the game is damn hard.. I made it to that spider boss with 1 continue but still got my add handed to me. I have read reviews that say it is to hard and that it is just right. Up until now it has been a challenge but not enough to deter me.. But it does make me wonder.. I'm going to buy a few continues and try again tonight.. The game is so good I don't want to have to return it, but I also hate really hard games and that spider boss.. man.

The easy mode opened up for me after the first level, not sure why though.

The easy mode opens up if you suck it up and get the D ranking. I've had that happened to me before. The spider boss is easy once you figure him out, you need the stinger move. position yourself behinid a pillar so he cant hit you, move towards you, or hit you with the fire ball, you will only have to move when the lava pillars come. Just stand back a ways and use the stinger on him hit his face then back away and repeat. It takes a little amount of time, but it works, better safe than sorry. I did this without even getting out of the green on my life bar.

And yes, this game is very hard. It gets easier as you buy power ups and improve your skills. Wait till you fight the shadow cat, or the demon knight after the shadow cat. It's all hard, but very cool, it just takes learning the bosses weaknesses.

PS. Word of warning, after you beat the spider thing and you go into the next mission. It will be back and chase you down the corridor. Just run to the room where you can upgrade your stuff and jump over his fire balls. When you enter the room, leave and he will have dissapeared :). It's a way out of fighting him again, cept in a harder cramped environment.

That cat was hard until I found that you had to use your gun. Lots of jumping and shooting later, he was dead (you can use your sword on his "globe"), but that demon knight was HARRRRRD! Once I learned to hit, RUN AWAY! Hit, RUN AWAY!, it got easier (don't forget to transform whenever possible to inflict more damage on him). Now, how do I beat this Grim Reaper guy?

Dude, thats what I'm trying to figure out. He whupped my ass, even though i unloaded on him a lot. Transformed twice too, and used a vitality item to refill the health and he still didn't die. I'm going back and powering up a lil bit, I have only one more powerup to buy for my sword. and i've gotten quite a few blue and purple orbs. Guess ill have to get more and try to think the battle through. I love the challenge this game offers. I mean just about every game now adays doesn't offer any challenge at all... to have a game that really makes you work to beat it is kinda cool. If you beat the grim reaper bitch before I do let me know how you did it, I'll let post it if I figure him out as well.

ARGH!!! I can't beat this Grim Reaper guy! I've gone through and died about 20 times now against him! GRAAAAAAAAAAH! :grunt: This is just level 5! (or is it 6)

I think it's just level 6. I tell you what makes it harder is the enclosed space you have to fight in :(. It's like your stuffed inside a box. What are you doing against him? Type of technique are you using? I used the shotgun and when my devil power was full i used the hand guns and shot the lightning bolts at him. :( still didn't beat him though.

Hey Cartman, I changed my tactic a little and i beat the bastard like a red headed step child. All you have to do is jump and attack. He will deflect you and hit you while doing this sometimes, but it makes it a little better if you can double jump so you get higher. Also turn into a demon and do it, it only took a few hits before he died.

Well, I sucked it up and got a D ranking on the first level, and that was after playing it twice.. I actually didn't think I did that bad at all, and I didn't die.. so what do you have to do to really do well?

If I have had a bit of a hard time now, and the demo boss is killing you guys, this doesn't sound promising.

OK. I got past the Grim Reaper with a lot of jumping. I am REALLY getting sick of seeing that dang spider!

LOL, man... if you guys are having a hard time on the spider, you are going to hate the other bosses. Nelo Angelo the demon knights comes to mind. Hmmm the Nightmare is hard too. And you have to fight the spider 4 times, LOL better get used to him :).

Nah, I don't want to ruin the game with easy mode. I'm making it along slowly but surely. I think I'm at mission 13 now. Took me quite a few tries to get the spider. It seems like the hardest missions have been the first 3 or 4. Once I got Ifrit, things are much simpler. The grenadegun is a little disappointing but it does pack a punch. I'm trying to figure out what Ifrit skills are best. I plunked 4850 red orbs into Inferno, which seems to be working alright.

dude.. i dont like ifrit at all... its too slow. i prefer alastor. and the grenade gun is like my favorite weapon. I also like the nightmare b and shotgun.

I agree, I don't like Ifirit either -- Alastor is in my opinion the best weapon in the game -- I don't like Sparda either. The grenade gun is very powerful, but slow -- I would still choose the grenade gun over the shotgun. I haven't really figured out Nightmare B, it doesn't appear to do much damage, but that may be due to the strength of the enemies in the last few levels. BTW how many levels are in this game? -- I think I'm on mission 19 or 20.

Er i believe there are 20 something... im on some stage with some demon monkeys i cant get by right now... its near the end i believe.

I got to the frickin' spider, got my arse kicked a few times and ran out of continues. Now I think I'll play a little Nascar Thunder and give DMC a bit of a break. (Of course now that I have some strategy to use on the spider maybe I can get him.

Finally i kick the spider's arse. I found a way to cheat though. After you kill the spider, there are a 2 special missions. What i do is, keep failing the mission and just keep collecting the red orbs and upgrage your weapons and health.When i reach the black cat, i bought the untouchable icon and use it on the cat and easily whoop the cat's arse too.

The cats really easy actually... just shoot him until the energy ball appears, then pull out your sword on it. The hard part about that stage is that derned knight at the end. Just turn into a demon and beat the snot out of him, corner him and don't let up.

Does the cat appear the first time you open the lion door in the room with the waterfountainl, or later in the game? In the demo he was in that room when I hit the statue and woke him up, but when I played it in the actual game 2 of those death guys came out instead of the cat. This could be because I was playing on Easy, but that would be silly since I haven't been able to avoid the spider!

Yes, I know, Easy is for wimps.. but this way I get to expierence the full game and still have time to play ICO, GTA3, and the thousand other good games coming out at the exact same moment!

It's because you are in Easy mode. The shadow appears at the same spot he did in the Demo (although the graphical entrance is different and better than in the demo). Have you played GTA3 yet? I'm still very iffy on that game, I didn't like the other 2 too much.

P.S. Ico is the sleeper hit of the year, gets a bad rap for being relatively short.

Any idea if I am missing much more being in Easy mode?

I haven't played GTA3 yet, it just came out today and I need to go pick it up.. I didn't expect much but based on the reviews and movies it is totally my type of game. Although I gather it is more of the same as the first 2 but in 3D.
