Best Video game soundtrack

Yes, its true. Video games have soundtracks.. Now which ones do you consider the best? which ones can you just listen to the background for hours?

I must say the ending to FF3.. i must have left that on for hours and hours!

next is Castlevania: SotN the soundtrack was amazing.

I'm still a big fan of Pacman's soundtrack.
My favorite has got to be Final Fantasy 3.

My favorites are always the Psygnosis titles - Wipeout series, Rollcage, etc.

My least favorite has to be Marvel vs Capcom 2.

My all time favorite soundtrack is Catlevania Symphony of the Night. I was just amazed when when I heard it.

Chrono Cross comes in a very close second, especially the Opening and Another World overworld music

Other good ones not in order include:

Any Wipeout Game
Parappa the Rapper
Final Fantasy 3!!
Wild Arms
Super Mario RPG
Grandia 2 (the battle music!)

Thats all I can think of right now.

GT3 soundtrack is fine listening to it OUTSIDE of the game. I can't stand it while playing. Playing Jet Grind Radio right now, and I must say the soundtrack in there is very very nice.

Definitely Wild Arms. Those tunes would get stuck in my head for days. Even my wife, who only plays the cutesy, simple types of videogames, would love listening to those tunes while I toiled away playing the game...sure wish there was a CD out there of just Wild Arms music...

I don't know if this has been posted before, but this is definitely the thread for it:

djpretzel's OverClocked ReMix has a ton of remixes of video game music. Some of it is pretty bad, some of it's really great, and some is just bizarre (Bubble Bobble: Hillbilly Rodeo and Rabbit Joint's Zelda cover come to mind). Great for eliciting groans from your friends.

Chrono Cross has one of the greatest soundtracks in my opinion. Also I would say that Zelda (pretty much any of them) also has very good music.
