When is the PS2 boot logo going to change?

Call me crazy, but I remember reading somewhere on how certain games were supposed to update the firmware of the PS2 and it would also change the boot logo animation (the one with the floating cubes), add stuff to it, etc. Is this going to happen or was I just daydreaming while reading, can't remember were I read it?

I've noticed that when I play on my freinds PS2 he has different squares than mine. I've read that like PS2 games make white ones, PS1 games black ones, and dvds clear ones. Also after a while they make columns too.

....Interesting.....I have a ton of PS1 titles I picked up over the life of the PS1(I also picked up a bunch of Evil green spline greatest hits titles for really cheap awhile back), I may have to do some experimenting if this is really true....but I'm not sure if I want a bunch of black cubes I like the clear ones because you can see the background diffused through them. It would be cool if they form some kind of picture or pattern like the PS logo if you get enough cubes Time to borrow some DVD's from my friend!!
