Omg Nhl 2002!!!!!!
Bought this yesterday, and all I can say is WOW! First, the graphics and gameplay are much better but what knocked my socks off are 2 things. 1, I hit somebody just right and the screen went RED and went to widescreen and showed me the hit from 3 different angles. The 2nd thing was I stole the puck and made a pass to Joe Sakic who went in on a breakaway, the screen went blue and went to Widescreen and you hear the heartbeat and it was a 1 on 1. I'm doing it injustice by my poor description but man this game rules. Now all I have to do is find the time to play it

This game owns, 'nuff said.
I had to force myself to finish my season in Madden before I played this though heh. Beat the Titans in the superbowl 27-7 (yes, pro) and was SO ready for some hockey. My god this is the best NHL yet. I thought 2000 was the best, but I tell you, this was worth every stinking penny!

I can't wait to play this game. I just need to replace my ps2, and then I have something to tide me over until I get to see my Wild Play my favorite team from Colorado.

I picked this up today, and all I can say is OMFG!
Lets see, besides what dek was mentioning it also has
1)DTS(yes the entire game)
2)Decent/Funny Commentary
3)EA NHL Gameplay
4)NHL cards(like Madden cards)
What more do you need?

First of all, it's for the PS2, so I think you're out of luck there Mr DC.

Ok, I just picked up NHL 2002 and NHL Hitz 20-02....
WHAT DOES EVERYONE SEE IN THIS GAME!?!?!?
This plays more like Pinball than hockey! The gameplay is also very jittery....and don't even get me started on the super-ultra-turbo-.01 second fights. It's also very hard to make a decent human-looking player in the create-a-player mode.
The cards are a nice addition, and some of the new animations are cool, but the letterboxing is just plain stupid. It slows down the pace of the game and distracts you from whats going on.
I also really miss the vocal taunts.
I'll stick with 2001 for now....
NHL Hitz on the other hand is a great multi-player game, the Franchise mode is great, and the fighting is fantastic!

KnightSkywalker, how do you plan to play, gampad or keyboard/mouse combo?

The commentary owns. Every 30 seconds my buddy and I have to pause the game cause we're laughing so hard.
Things like "woah, he just rocked his Casbah!", "well, that'll teach him to make fun of his Backstreet Boys lunchbox", and "one of the teams here should think about hitting the reset button".
And there's nothing like the look on your friends face when you've just scored on them for the 4th or 5th time unanswered and crickets start chirping (ok, so he scored on me, but so what! still funny!)

I really like the commentary as well. Very well thought out.
After playing this for a few days, I've come to dislike the breakaway/big check widescreen stuff. It gets a little too distracting.

It has S-video out so I can play it through my tv as well.
He he...I was playing Street Fighter Alpha 3 on it the other day at work and my PD came in and went "Cool...what are you playing? Let me play a round."
Radio may not pay much but that is damned cool.

unless I mis-read the reviews, when you check, doesn't it show it like 3-4 times from different angles? That seems like something that would kinda ruin the experience... and the commentarys, they might be funny the first hundred times, but after it will get pretty annoying.
