Gameshark 2 for Playstation 2
My order for Gameshark 2 for PS2 was just shipped from amazon. 34.48 (shipped) is much better than the 48.86 + tax at walmart.
Anyway, what am i in store for? Does anyone have any decent codes that aren't Official gameshark codes on thier website? I've never had a gameshark... I had a game Genie for SNES
But that was a while back.
The main reason i bought it now was for the $10,000,000,000,000 code for GT3.
So anyway... CODES? OPINIONS? ....?

don't bother with "unofficial" codes. they cause the gameshark to lock up and freeze on you the majority of the time. just go to www.gameshark.com for all the official, authorized codes for it.

Yeah, i saw all those codes... I really have no idea about the gameshark... So i thought the unofficial codes were just as good. But thanks for the tip! Seems like most of the official ones cover the bases i'm looking for like money and timers and such.
I think it'll be a good accessory to have in the coming months. I mean i've got Simpsons Road Rage, Top Gun, and 007 coming out before Christmas, so this will earn its keep probably.

I hate to tell you this, but the GS2 pretty much sucks. I purchased it, got my $1000000000000 in GT3, and returned it a short while later. Problems I experienced:
1) It will randomly say "hardware not found", and make you reboot.
2) After rebooting, there is about a 30% chance that any codes you manually entered will be gone.
3) The dongle itself is a piece of crap. The first one I got wasn't assembled correctly. The top and bottom pieces weren't aligned correctly, so it would not fit in the memory card slot.
4) They "update" the GS a LOT, and they may FORCE you to have a certain version to use new codes.
5) They have ONE person that "hacks" codes for the GS2. ONE PERSON. This means that after a game has been out a while, you most likely aren't getting any new codes from them. Also, if you go to the gameshark message board, you will find that they are complete asses. The posters are morons as well, but you don't typically find workers like that. A recent example would be that when GT3 came out, everyone was wanting a "low lap time" code. So, FNG (the "hacker" for PS2 games) decided to "teach us some patience" (those were HIS words in a very evil post) and make it a gameshark 900 number hotline exclusive. Just one of the things that make me hate Interact.
If you are able, I would wait for the Pelican Codebreaker. It won't require a "dongle", and www.cmgsccc.com will be doing all the codes for it (gameshark.com regularly rips off their codes and posts them as their own).

Well, i only paid 34 for it... So if its not great, then oh well. I'll ebay it or soemthing, or take it back to walmart and get store credit. They sell for ~$35 on ebay, and $48 store credit at walmart could be used for a game later in november. But chances are i'll keep it to see what it has for games later on.

Yeah, wanted to get a GS myself but i heard from a local retailer that says it has lotsa problems with it that he has to stop selling them as he gets too many returns. I won't touch it for now.

Its okay if it actually works on your model of PS2 and if you can actually find working codes. They have been updating it a lot to keep up with Sony altering the bios on new consoles that causes it not to work. The biggest problem is getting codes. They do a poor job of getting new codes released.

I don't know, I love mine. I haven't experienced any of the problems you guys are mentioning. The worst problem I have is that the memory card part doesn't really lock into place like normal cards do so you have to kind of push it in hard. The best stuff I've used so far is the $10,000,000,000 code and low lap time code for GT3 (which was a 900 exclusive, but was easily located posted on the Internet the same day), the unlimited credits in Armored Core 2 (used to buy every part in the game), and my personal favorite, unlocking about 20 weapons and items in the MGS2 demo, including an enemy uniform, C4, grenades, and the FA-MAS. My $35 I paid for GS2 was worth all the joy I had setting booby traps in this demo alone.

then put this one in to get low lap time:
0d6a785c 142617a5
1d6a785c 145617a5
Low Lap Time freezes the timer on your license tests somewhere between 3 and 6 seconds. So, no matter how long you take to finish a test, you'll finish with only a few seconds on the timer and get a gold trophy. Just make sure you stay on the road and you can get all golds in an hour or so, plus get some amazing cars for getting all golds on the higher level licenses. There are also codes to get a gold trophy without racing, but in my opinion those are a waste of time because you have to input a separate code for every single test, plus you won't get the bonus cars.
I don't like to cheat much in games, but this is too cool for words (plus I would never get this accomplished anyway, much too hard for a casual gamer like me to get all golds).

I haven't gotten a gameshark code I manually entered in to work.
I only use the ones found on the gameshark website.
I enter in the code and select it to make sure it will load, but when the game starts, the only codes that work are the ones that were on the gameshark cd. None of the codes I enter work. And I triple checked them to make sure I typed them in wrong.
The only thing I can think of is that I have old gameshark drivers and the codes won't work with it. I dunno. ANy thoughts?

I've used the Codebreaker and its great. It uses codes from www.cmgsccc.com (much better codes than gameshark.com) and regular game shark codes. No dongle needed either. This is the thing that usually fails or doesn't work right with the Gameshark.
