If you're into motocross, try Motocross Madness 2. Very fun.
Also, there's Superbike 2001 by EA with graphics that are photorealistic during gameplay! Replay (of course) looks even more amazing.
I never got into purchasing a wheel.
I also enjoy racing games and wanted the analog steering, so I purchased this adapter that allows me to use a Nintendo 64 controller. The best controller I've ever used on a PC.

Yep, Midtown Madness 2 is great. I beta'd it and they sent me a free copy after ;p. ReVolt is a lot of fun too and only $8 at compuexpert, but it's not really a sim -- more of a R/C car game. Tons of fun.

Thanks for all the advice people. I picked up Midtown madness 2 and am really enjoying it. I also found a old copy of ultimate race pro that I got with my video card years ago.
For the person asking which wheel I picked up it's the Logitech Wingman Formula Racing Wheel with Pedals. I got it for $20 total including shipping

From my experiences, the EA Sports F1 simulators are trash and have horrible frame-rates (before you gripe, this is a P3 550 with 128MB RAM and a 32MB GeForce2), and given their perennial releases of garbage- like NHL 2002, I'd try them out before buying.
If you're into F1, Microprose's GP3 is pretty good, though there's an add-on that's not available in the states and won't be released according to what I've heard. The frame rates aren't the greatest though, so you might want to try out Ubisoft's F1 sims but I haven't tried those.
If you're feeling brave, and want to THINK while playing, most of these are cheap and quite fun-
1) Colin McRae Rally
2) Colin McRae Rally II
3) Michelin Rally Challenge (great frame rates and force-feedback)
and an IROC- type rally contest
4) Magnetic Field's Rally Championship (ENTIRE BRC); steering is a bit peaky but it's the ENTIRE series, not just short little bits of stages.
For purists, the ultimate is Grand Prix Legends. It has incredible (very accurate) physics. It's a 1967 F1 sim, it even has the old 14.2 mile Nurburgring, 184 corners and some amazing straights. It's like driving a Ferrari through old country roads. Good Internet connectivity, I've raced a couple times and it's a hoot.
I'll warn you though, it takes a lot of practice time to get good at it. It's kind of like buying a violin....

Just to clarify for those that aren't familiar with this game.....it was produced in 1998 but is based on the 1967 Formula 1 series.

But I'm sure you would've figured that out because, umm, well...internet connectivity sucked in the 60's.
